Kenneth Brown Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2022.
Kenneth (Ken) Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana also known professionally as Kenny Brown, founder of Kenny Brown Performance, passed away on April 19, 2022, at age of 73.

Kenny Brown was an icon in the Mustang racing and performance industry. As President and CEO of Kenny Brown Performance, Inc., Kenny not only developed evolutionary high performance cars and automotive products, but he had a passion to share his experience and immense knowledge through his Speed Therapy Academy, track events and his weekly Live YouTube and Facebook program, Cars & Coffee with Kenny Brown.

Off track, Ken was proud of his Scottish heritage and enjoyed sharing a wee dram from his extensive single-malt Scotch collection. Ken was an amazing chef who loved to experiment in the kitchen and enjoyed creating delicious memorable dishes for his family and friends. Ken loved spending time with his wife of 20 years, Cari, his son, Adam (Jessica) and was a beloved Gramps to his two granddaughters, Allison and Zoe.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Cari Southworth, son Adam (Jessica) Brown of Greenwood, granddaughters Allison & Zoe Brown of Greenwood, brother Garry (Pat) Brown of North Carolina, and nephews Jason (Teresa) Brown of Cincinnati and Lucas (Amanda) Brown of Cincinnati. Ken is precluded in death by his parents Jasper & Isobel Brown and son Paul Brown.

There will be a private memorial service for close friends and family on Friday, May 13th at the Community Church of Greenwood. Visitation is from 3-4pm with a service at 4pm and a small reception following. A public memorial will be announced later this year.

Kenny was a friend in high school and the thing I remember about him was sitting behind me in a class - he was reading an automotive magazine that was featuring the "new" Mustang (this was in 65 or 66) and going on how it was just such a cool car - that he was going to have one someday. Who would have thought then he would have made it a career. My thoughts to his family.

I worked for Kenny for just a short time when he was on Gasoline Alley back in the mid `90´s. I didn´t quite get or appreciate him until I left Kenny Brown Performance. He was and intelligent man and a great teacher who knew what he was talking about. I learned a lot from him that I use today in my professional career as well as how to look at the big picture when doing performance modifications on vehicles. He inspired me long after my time working for KBP. I now have a2019 BULLITT Mustang that I owe him partial credit to for his Mustang influence on me. He will be missed all who knew him including people like me whom he influenced and probably didn´t even know he influenced us. Thank you Kenny & tear up the track in the heaven.

Condolences to the Brown family. Loved Cars and Coffee! Spoke with him at length last season regarding issues with my heat exchanger on my car. The Mustang Community has lost a legend.
