Kenneth Richard Costello

Kenneth Richard Costello age 79 of Hobart passed away unexpectedly Sunday April 30, 2017 at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. Ken was born December 17, 1937 in Chicago IL to the late Michael and Margaret (Gault) Costello. Kenneth was a Korean Conflict Naval Veteran. While serving in the Navy Ken meet his first wife and lifelong friend Wini Costello. After serving in the Navy Ken and Wini located to Indiana for work and to raise their five children. Ken worked as a mechanic that eventually retired from Gary Sanitary District and Indiana Bell. Ken then later married Sharon and had two children together. Ken continued to raise his younger children in Lake Station Indiana. Ken held many jobs after his retirement including managing the Chateau, leather craft instructor and grounds keeper for multiple cemeteries. Ken enjoyed working and worked full time up until the time of his death. Ken loved to spend his weekends with his grandchildren or working on cars for friends. Ken also enjoyed collecting antiques, watching NASCAR and attending concerts. Ken was a loving, caring person that always put others before himself.

Kenneth is survived by six children, Robert (Kari) Costello, Kenneth Costello, Jr., Theresa (Dave) Ledyard, Margaret (Kenneth) Fyffe, Cynthia (Aron Ceglarek) and Jessica Costello: he had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; loving daughter Wendy Ann Costello; five brothers Bill Costello, John Costello, Thomas Costello, Michael Costello and Martin Gault; and his life-long friend John Long.

Visitation for Kenneth will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm Monday May 8, 207 at Rees Funeral Home 600 Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342. Cremation will follow.

Memorial donations are encouraged to Kenneth's family to help defer his final expenses.
