Jerry believed in the words of David Alan Harvey, an American photographer based in the Outer Banks of North Carolina: "Don't shoot what it looks like. Shoot what it feels like".

Thinking about Mike and family today; and of course, Mitch & Diane. Jerry is always in my heart. I have reminders of him all around my house from gifts he gave me through the years but the best gift was his love and friendship. Hope you're having fun with everybody up there. See you again one day.

Well Amigo, it's been 4 years but I still miss the wonderful times we shared. I'm okay but there's still a big void and I find myself watching the videos that we made and it's a mixture of laughs and tears. I'm so glad we have those to look back on. See you again my friend. Kline

Jerry was a true friend. I cannot think of higher praise. I will feel connected to him forever. I am sure I will never find another friend to match him. My eyes fill with tears, my heart fills with sadness as I contemplate his absence. But I cheer myself up remembering our strong bond over many years.....a bond that is not broken by death.

It was always a great pleasure to walk into Jerry's booth. He always met me with a smile and a few laughs. Lisa and I visited New Bern last year and hooked up with Jerry a couple of times. It was great to see him after so long and we sure wish we could go back for another visit, he was so much fun to be with, and such a terrific guy. We'll miss him. Rest in peace, Jerry.

I pray that God will give Jerry's family comfort and heal their hearts for the loss of their loved one. Jerry was a giving and generous guy. Always willing to make his colleague's stories soar. He'll be missed. Peace and blessings.

Jerry was warm, friendly, and gregarious - always lighting up the room with his personality. Keeping his friends and family in our thoughts.

Jerry Gordon was solid. There was never a doubt about the quality you would get when he began to edit. More important, he was a solid human being - a friend to all who helped create the winning atmosphere in the glory days of Channel 9. My sympathies to his loved ones and the ones he loved.

Jerry, not only were you a friend, but you were a part of our family. It is the little things that we remember, the smiles, the laughter, and fun times at Gwynn's Island. These memories of these little things bring the smiles back. Your kindness, your strength and everything you did for my dad. You were a shoulder to cry on when my mom was ill for Jackie. Michael, I know you know you had a great dad who will be sadly missed but remembered every day in our hearts. You are one of those special people that never leave our lives even after they are gone. Every time I have a Yuengling, I toast you!!! Huggs....

Jerry, we've been friends for over 40 years and your artistry made my footage so much better but it's been since we retired and you Hal and I became "the 3 amigos" that the fun began. We laughed, ate, explored and documented much of it and I'll cherish those memories. See you later Amigo. Kline Mengle

Gerald T...You made me feel welcome back in 1988 when I started at Ch.9.You let me "stand by" in your edit booth and watch "the master at work"....A little bit of that rubbed off on me, just enough to keep me around for 28 years. I owe you big-time my friend {Mark Seeger too}.We are going to miss you too.Ratso

My thoughts and prayers to everyone who knew or even just crossed paths with Jerry. I only knew him for a brief time when I joined WUSA and I still remember his kindness. I was in my early 20's with no experience, but that wasn't how he treated me. Rest easy Jerry and say hi to our friends up there.

Jerry, Thank you for always making this newbie feel so welcome when I started. Thank you for your fun and laughter. Thank you for our great chats. And may I be the first to say, good Shabbos. But I wont be the first to say I'll miss you.

When I came to wusa9 almost two decades ago, Jerry Gordon made me feel at home. A master editor, who artfully used "straight cuts" to tell great stories, was also a thoughtful and reflective man with a big heart. He shared with me a series of books by Wendell Berry and the world he described of living life simply... a lifestyle Jerry sought to adopt after leaving the craziness of television. I always enjoyed our talks, our phone calls, and our emails. Miedo and I cherish the afternoon visit together with him and Miss Oatis (and our boy Malachi) at his Gwynn Island paradise a few years back. May you have peace in your heart, my friend... we miss you.

Thank you for your kindness, creativity, humor, and editing tips to this once young (now old) editor. You were an integral part of one of the best news teams in the country. Thank you for "making page" with some of the most creative work this city has ever watched.
Bless you my friend. Bill

Please accept my sincere sympathies. May God's holy spirit or active force, equip you with the " power beyond what is normal " to go from one day to the next. ( 2 Corinthians 4 : 7 ) Remember : God can help his faithful servants to endure any and every problem they may face.

A happy place!

My deepest condolences to Jerry's loved ones. The mold is broken, there won't be another like him!
As memories flash through my mind at wicked speed, solace is nearly elusive. This, though, is a reminder that eventually the heartache and tears subside, in its place, the joy of knowing you will be the comfort. Although paraphrased, I can hear you say...
Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything is as it was. I am I and you are you, and the old life we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way you always used. Use no difference in your tone. Do not be solemn or sorrowful. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be the household word it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
Hope your catch is titanic!
Love always, SD
