Kenneth GOUIN Obituary

Published by Windsor Star from May 30 to May 31, 2014.

GOUIN, Kenneth Michael (Ken)
We are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved Ken on May 26, 2014 at the age of 63 and in the loving presence of his family. Soulmate and husband of Joann (née Marsella); proud father of Jennifer and Stephanie (Jeff); adored son-in-law of Adele and Bernardo (late) Marsella. Reunited with his departed parents, Lionel and Irene Gouin; and sister-in-law Anna. Nothing in life was more important to Ken than his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Richard (Karen), Paulette (John), Renée and Bruce "Boo Boo"; sister-in-law Beja (Jack) and his extended family. Ken was a man of integrity and great loyalty; he casted and forged long lasting friendships with Guy Hewson (Tina), Paul Cooney (Joan) and David Leslie (Rachelle). He was a dedicated and passionate advocate for his Ford of Canada Brothers and Sisters as a Union Steward from 1982 to 1992 at the Windsor Casting Plant and later as Health and Safety Representative from 1992 to 1998 at the Windsor Aluminium Plant. He was Past-President of the Steward Council for four terms and retired in 2002. Ken will be remembered for his razor sharp wit, his storytelling skills, his fishing capers and incredible golf game. Ken loved spending time at the cottage and on his boat; being with friends and family; he had an appreciation for classic rock, in particular, Queen, the Eagles and the Who; and enjoyed his golf membership at Belleview. Ken's family would like to recognize Dr. Roxanne Chow for her exceptional care during his time at Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouellette Campus and the great care of the 8th floor nurses, in particular Dave, Jenn and Shannon. Special appreciation to Ken's best friend Guy Hewson for the strength, devotion, love and support he demonstrated to Ken and to all of us during this most difficult time. Guy, we couldn't have done this without you; you are family and stuck with us forever. Visitation for Ken will be held at

It was a shock to hear of Ken's passing. Ken was a very Loving, passionate person. It was a pleasure to have known him in social situations at the cottage and the golf course. We're honored to have Ken's fishing boat with all his advice, which got us out catching pickerel from day 1.

When all is said and done in life we only meet a few that touch our lives in so many ways. Ken was my best friend and we shared so much together. In good times and in bad times you always had my back buddy. I owe no one as much as I owe you. Your family is my family and I will miss all the great things we did together. Love and miss you already buddy.

My sincere condolences to Ken's family. What a great guy. Ken and I worked together for many years at Windsor Aluminum Plant. It was often said that he was the assistant engineering manager as we worked together to resolve potential safety concerns. We also enjoyed many rounds of golf together where his many tips were very much appreciated and certainly needed. Thanks Ken for everything.

My condolences to all of Ken's family and friends. I had the opportunity and pleasure of working with Ken at the Windsor Casting Plant back in the 80s. We took care of a lot of business and also had lots of laughs along the way. Ken will always be remembered for his commitment to the health and safety of all the men and women at the Windsor Aluminum Plant. RIP.

Although we were work mates I considered Ken a friend and confident. I worked with Ken at WCP and WAP. He was an honourable person who loved his wife and was so proud of his daughters. We have lost a wonderful guy who made a difference. The world is a poorer place without Ken.
