In my years in CBC Radio Communications, I often encountered Ken and had the pleasure of working a little with him. His kindly presence would fill one with warmth and confidence. My condolences to his family.

Such lovely family memories of your dad, May and Renee! The Christmas singalongs, the New Year's house parties...where to start! Do please know that the Limbertie sisters are thinking of you in this difficult time, but are certain that our parents are now happily reunited on a cloud, sharing a borrel. I look forward to getting together in the very near future. Ineke

In 1977 Ken was my tour guide when I joined the CBC as an announcer. One summer day he came in wearing colourful plaid shorts to read the National News on Television, I thought this was pretty cool for the time, no one would see under the table. I visited his home on a few occasions and I remember the beautiful and detailed model sailing ships that he had created. I learned a great deal from him as a young announcer. Recently, when I learned he had moved to the Warkworth Nursing Home I went to see him and he was in good spirits. We had a coffee and shared stories and had a great time. I remember pushing him down the hall in his wheel chair saying I bet you never thought I would be doing this in your lifetime. Three weeks later, I received the sad news that he had passed away. My condolences to the family and know he was truly a kind and lovely man.

In my early days as a TV director I started in News. We did't always know which newscaster had been scheduled to read that day but whenever Ken walked in I knew that we were not only facing the consummate professional but also one of the nicest, friendliest, talented and intelligent person in the CBC.
My sympathies to his family.

Growing up as a child in NS, Ken has well as Earl Cameron were the voices of the CBC in the 60's and 70's. Our local station was an affiliate of CBC as were a lot of stations that did not have a major signal until much later. It was around 1982 that we got our own feed and the local station dropped CBC in favor of local programing. We got the hourly news and maybe an hour in the afternoon evening programing from 9pm-midnight. Our condolences to the Haslam family. Ken will be missed right across the country

My office at the Radio BLdg. in Toronto used to be right next to the Announcers' office back in the mid 80s. I used to enjoy gabbing with Ken, and other compatriots of his, like Bob Oxley, and Colin Perkel (not sure of spelling) to name a few. May Ken rest in peace.

One of the great announcers, and great voices, of the CBC, and a professional who was referred to as one of the guardians of the language.

For those who enjoy memories of him, here is a sixties era poster of Ken Haslam in a celebratory mood with some friends and peers in broadcasting including Lamont Tilden, Frank Herbert, Bill Hawes, and De B Holly.

My sincere sympathies, Renée, May, and family, for your loss. But I hope and trust too that you will find time to celebrate his life, and your times with him.
