Kenneth Hoffman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2025.
Assonet - Kenneth Michael Hoffman M.D., 68, peacefully passed away on February 7, 2025 surrounded by his devoted wife and children.

Born on May 23, 1956 at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C., Ken grew up on Long Island and had fond memories of swimming in Long Island Sound and playing golf. He pursued a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins, received his medical degree at SUNY Upstate, followed by Radiology residency at the University of Miami. Ken's career brought him to St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester and most recently to Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford, MA. He was a man of many passions with a deep love of sports, especially football, devoted to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (and the Patriots). Music was his passion, New Wave, electronic and 80's tunes being his favorites. He enjoyed extensive travelling, some of his special places being the Eastern shore of Maryland and Southern Florida.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Diane (Sullivan) Messersmith M.D. with whom he shares 7 children: Bridget (Canavan) Hron, M.D., Christopher Canavan, Seanna (Canavan) Freitas, Victoria Hoffman M.S., Shiloh (McKayla) Hoffman M.Div., Matthew Hoffman, and Jonathan Hoffman; and their partners, Jonathan Hron M.D., Emery Helms, Eli Reznekervitz, Lindi (Malo) Hoffman, Sophie England-Hoffman, and Caitlin (Coogan) Hoffman; and their grandchildren Natalie Freitas, Patrick Hron, Meredith Hron, Kaylee Helms, and Jack Hoffman.

Ken is also survived by his parents Kenneth Hoffman PhD and Ann Hoffman, his brother Charles Hoffman PhD, and his sister Theresa Crowley M.D. and her children Nathan Crowley, Julia Crowley M.D., and Michelle Crowley M.D.

Ken was most known for his positivity, kindness, humor, generosity, and dedication as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, friend, and a physician.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at First Parish Church in Taunton, located at 76 Church Green, Taunton, MA.

Kenneth's warmth and big heart will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

I worked with Ken for many years as a special procedure nurse, at MRMC.
He was always kind and professional with our patients. He was a pleasure to work with.

I was an X-ray tech at milford for 25 years. He was such a gentle and funny Doctor. One of my favorite memories is when he did fluoro exams he would aways tell the patient to BREEEEEEEEEATHE IN HIS DEEP DRAWL VOICE. Made me chuckle every time he said it.
God bless him and my sincere condolences to all of his family.

Diane and family,
I was so sorry to hear of this.
My favorite memory of Ken was when we were at the Christmas Celtic Sojourn and he pulled chicken nuggets out of his sports jacket pocket for Natalie!
He was a great guy. You are in my prayers.

The world is a better place because you were in it. You were always exceptionally kind hearted and warm. One measure of the type of person you were is the character of your children. I know you touched more lives than I can fathom. I am forever grateful to have known you. Until next time, I love you Ken.
