Thinking of ken
Terri Kill-Lanuti
March 12, 2018
Dear Hopkins family, I was so very saddened to recently learn of my cousin's death. Please accept my condolences on your great loss. Ken and I lived across the alley from each other when we were kids. His mom, Anna May, and my dad, Matt Kill, were first cousins. Ken was a few years older than me, so I was closer to his brother Richard. I remember only that Ken was kind and never picked on us :) like the other big kids. I lost contact with his mom a few years ago... we would exchange Christmas cards and I visited her once or twice when my husband and I went to Tucson for vacation. Then, my cards were returned without a forwarding address, and I assumed she had moved in with one of the boys or passed away. I learned of Ken's death while researching his brother Tom's whereabouts for a friend of mine who is planning their 50-year reunion for grammar school/high school. Please be assured of my prayers for Ken and for your family. Terri Kill-Lanuti, [email protected]

Mary, I just learned of Ken's passing and am so saddened by it.
We worked together for several years at HRI in Norton and I truly respected, not only his skills as a therapist, but also his qualities as a man. I always felt the closest to him as a coworker.
I had the pleasure of talking to him a few years ago at MSPP when I took a continuing education course there. My wife had died from cancer and he was telling me about his own bout with it.
I have referred a lot of Psych students to MSPP and I would always tell them to call Ken - that he would be glad to help them with any questions they may have.
My heart goes out to you and your wonderful family.

Mary, Molly, Jake, Brandi, Lauren and Nola,
I am so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. I always enjoyed sharing Kelley family events in Easton, with your family joining in, as part of their family. Kati and Steve were so lucky to have moved in next door to you all. And the girls love you all so much.
I know that Ken will be missed by many...and i wish you peace in your hearts as you experience this loss.
In Sympathy,
Theresa (Koehler) Tabor

My heart breaks for you! Please know that you all are in my prayers now and especially during these very difficult days ahead. I'm praying that your memories of your dad/husband will carry you through to brighter days. He was such a special sweet man and I feel so blessed that our lives crossed paths. Ken was an extraordinary teacher, and the kindest of spirits. He had a gentleness that immediately made you feel comfortable and appreciated. His love of life was contagious - and felt in the classroom. I am a better person and clinician for having known him. Rest in peace, Ken.

To Ken's Family:
Ken and I worked together at MSPP for years. He was the finest representative of our field and was especially gifted in understanding children, families and the uniqueness of individuals. He and his gentle understanding will be greatly missed. He was and is a wonderful psychologist and person.
With Love,

Ken Hopkins was a great friend of mine from Quigley South High School in Chicago, IL. We were both from the same neighborhood and went to the same Grammar School (along with his brother Tom) as well.
Although we have not spoken in years, I can tell you he was a great person even back then.
I am very sorry for your loss. I can see from the other comments that Ken was a great and compassionate practitioner, and I am certain a wonderful Husband and Father as well.

Dr. Ken Hopkins was my professor in graduate school. I had great respect for him, both intellectually and emotionally. Once I graduated, I sought private consultation from him regarding my toughest child cases. He did not simply offer me professional guidance, but most importantly he taught me to express myself more openly and lovingly to those around me. He was instrumental in helping me to become a new Psychologist and to appreciate myself and who I was. He was a gentle, kind and thoughtful man. He will be greatly missed.
My sincerest condolences to his loved ones. I hope my words bring some comfort to his family in this time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth De Medeiros

The world has truly lost a great person & Doctor. He helped me through a very difficult time in my life when I was young. Thanks to his kind heart & gentle manner, he helped me to open up & talk & express myself. As a result of this, I wanted to be just like him & help people which led me to major in Psychology. Without his help all those years ago, I would not be where I am today. Thank you for all you did. I hope that you find some comfort in my words to help you through this difficult time as he was a great man/Dr. No words could express how sorry I am for your lose.
