KENNETH H. KARLSEN
May 10, 1931 ~ October 26, 2017

Kenneth Herman Edwald Karlsen was born May 10, 1931, in Velva, North Dakota, the third child of Einar and Elina Karlsen. He died peacefully at home in Brush Prairie, Washington, on October 26, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Frances Karlsen, at home in Brush Prairie; and his nine children - Timothy (with Carol) Karlsen of Brush Prairie, WA, Kathleen (with Gary) Matson of Vancouver, WA, Susan (with Juha) Tyni of Battle Ground, WA, Paul (with Sarah) Karlsen of Brush Prairie, WA, Barbara (with Michael) Metz of Vancouver, WA, Duane (with Shelly) Karlsen of Brush Prairie, WA, Lisa (with Craig) Sunnarborg of Battle Ground, WA, Ann (with Derek) Olson of Brush Prairie, WA, and Peter (with Leah) Karlsen of La Center, WA; along with 52 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth (with Robert) Ankenbauer of Vancouver, WA, Lois (with Leon) Allen of Canton, TX, and Joyce Klaus of Vancouver, WA; his brothers, Marvin (with Marilyn) Karlsen of Brush Prairie, WA, Milford (with Donna) Karlsen of Battle Ground, WA, and Victor (with Kiki) Karlsen, of Battle Ground, WA.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Joey; his grandson, Adam Karlsen; his parents, Einar and Elina Karlsen; his brothers, Harley Karlsen and Robert Karlsen; and his sisters, Clara Karlsen and Donna Winters.
Ken was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hockinson, WA, where he served as a lay minister for many years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and the funeral service will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., both at the Hockinson Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16108 NE 192nd Ave., Brush Prairie.
