Kenneth A. Lathrop
Kenneth A. Lathrop, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2020. He was born in New Milford on November 8th, 1936 to George and Ethel (Jennings) Lathrop. He was a graduate of New Milford High School Class of 1955 and went on to serve in the US Army. He served bravely in Vietnam as part of the 1st Cavalry Air Transport Unit. He later worked as a contractor and owner of Lathrop Construction for many years.
He loved antique cars, traveling, and just going for a ride. He especially loved Germany where he lived for many years and spoke fluent German.
He leaves behind many who loved him. He was Papa to his 6 children, Monika Roberts, Roswitha Ogden, Heidi Westervelt, Hildegard Noonan, Christoph Lathrop, and Nadia Lathrop. He was Opa to 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Megan Munday, Priscilla and Donny Ogden, Shannon, Erika and Kyle Roberts, James and Ava Westervelt, Alexis and Marisa Noonan, Caiden Lathrop, Jaydon Munday, and Nash Westervelt. He also leaves behind his beloved partner Shirley Thompson, mother of his children Ilse Lathrop, his brothers Richard (Pete) Lathrop, George (Cook) Lathrop, and sisters Joni Herron, Carol (Polly) Corey, and Bonnie Lawrence. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Louie Lathrop.
Services are being arranged by Lillis Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Center Cemetery located at 6 Poplar St. New Milford, CT 06776. Due to covid-19 attendees are asked to wear mask and observe social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Regional Hospice, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810.
