Of Jackson, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2016 age 93. Ken was born on July 21, 1923 in Elgin, Oklahoma, to the late Kenneth A. and Ella (Hasenbeck) Melling Sr. Ken Married Audrey M. (McPeck) on August 19, 1951. He is survived by 4 children, Michael K. (Lyn) Melling, Patrick J. Melling, Margot M. (Floyd) Coppernoll, William E. (Becky) Melling, 5 grandchildren, Heather (John) Garcia, Patrick C. (Kelly) Melling, Alison (Jon) Cristian, Amanda Coppernoll-Austin and Katie L. Coppernoll. 6 step grandchildren, Tabitha (George) Caplon, Gary Metz, Ericah, Brenna, Kara and Kendra Abbey, 14 great grandchildren, Dyvon J. Melling, Hayden Austin, Drake, Andrew and Emma Melling, Javid, Tryden, Zekiah and Kendall Garcia, Logan and Matthew Cristian, Molly, Jacob and Violet Caplon. Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Rice, his wife Audrey and a grandson Michael D. Melling. Ken graduated High School in Huntington, Indiana in 1941 and moved to Jackson and became a machine operator in 1942. He served his country 1943-1945 during WWII, U.S. Army 2nd Cavalry XII Corps-Spearhead of Patton's Third Army. Ken was employed at Standard Manufacturing in Jackson for 40 years before retiring in 1988. Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he loved capturing special events on film and videos. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday October 18, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Burial Roseland Cemetery. Visitation Monday 6-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the M S Society or Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
