Kenneth J. Misiewicz passed away on April 17, 2025, at the age of 36. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and resided in Littleton, Colorado.

Beloved son of Virginia Labotka (Richard) and Lawrence Misiewicz; loving brother of Lauren Utley (Samuel), Adam (Raquel), Matthew Labotka, Lori Labotka-Giansiracusa (Michael); adored Uncle of Allison, Jonathan, Charlotte, Doris, Lennon and Harper, as well as grandson of the late Joseph and Eleanore Winecki, the late Theodore and Anastasia Misiewicz, the late Charles and Katherine Labotka; the late Lynn Shannon - Labotka; cherished nephew of many uncles and aunts, very special cousin to many; best friend to his late dog, Cooper. Kenny will be dearly missed.

After graduating from Our Lady of Ransom School in Niles, IL in 2003 and Notre Dame College Prep in Niles, IL in 2007, Kenny went on to be a 2012 graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. After graduation, Kenny pursued his EMT Certification, starting his career as an ambulance EMT then working relentlessly in the UIC Emergency Department Forward Triage during COVID. After moving to Colorado in 2021 he continued as an EMT in the Emergency Department at several hospitals.

Kenny was a diehard Cubs fan, but he loved spending time with his nieces and nephew even more. When he wasn't spending time outdoors, Kenny enjoyed socializing with his siblings and cousins, attending comedy shows, movies and baseball games. Cooper, Kenny's dog and BFF, brought him great happiness and comfort.

Family and friends to gather Friday, April 25 at 11:00 a.m. MST for a funeral service at Highlands United Methodist Church, 3131 Osceola St, Denver, CO 80212. The service will be live-streamed. Kenny is under the care of Newcomer West Metro Chapel in Lakewood. A Celebration of Life will be held in Chicago this summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends making a donation in Kenny's memory to either the Foothills Animal Shelter or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

I didn't know Kenny very well but every time we saw each other, he would say hi and ask about how Cooper was doing on his walks. He was always a friendly face and he loved Cooper dearly. I'm truly saddened that he has passed but I know he and Cooper have been reunited and nothing will seperate them again.
Richard and Ginny you are in my thoughts and prayers

Oh, Kenny. Sweet Kenny. I´ve had so many memories of you rushing through my head this past week. I remember visiting you at your old house in Illinois and you and Lauren jumping up and down when you answered the door. You both just giggled and jumped and then you went running into your sunken living room. I loved this greeting. I remember sleeping over and kicking around the soccer ball with you in your backyard. At Christmas we´d talk about music and then for weeks you´d text me with different bands I should check out. I remember the boys vs girls gingerbread house decorating competition your mom would have you kids do and everyone had to vote. Each year, you tried rigging the contest by telling me which house to vote for so the boys would win. During the pandemic we´d text about the kinds of things you were facing as a front-line worker and how frustrating people could be. One of the last texts I had from you was your idea to make the movie about tag come to life. You said you wanted to get it going and I was on board. I think you just wanted a reason for all of us to stay connected and be together through an endless game of tag through life. The family will come together in summer to celebrate your life. I hate that we´ll all connect and be together without you physically there, but getting together because of you is the next best thing. You have touched all our lives and we will keep you alive in our hearts and in our stories about you. I love you forever, cousin.

I am so so sad to hear about Kenny. He was my first love! He introduced me to Chicago deep dish and the Bean! We had such a fun time at Purdue, and he definitely helped me through my freshman year there - showing me the ropes! While we lost touch after college, he would randomly pop into my head, wondering what all he was up to in the real world. He was such a caring person and truly wanted to make the world a better place. We will miss you Kenny

Kenny's gentle nature really shined when he was caring for dogs. It was a blessing to see him bring peace and calm to our anxious dog, and to play with our rambunctious puppy. We are thinking of his kindness and missing him greatly.

Ginny, Rich,Lauren and family. There are no words to express how sorrowful for your loss of Kenny. May your memories of Kenny bring you peace and healing. I always enjoyed seeing Kenny at our family gatherings over the holidays. Mostly I will remember Kenny as the kind young man he grew up to be. And will miss especially our lively conversations that at least one occasion took us into wee hours of the night.
