News Death Notice

MOREFIELD, Kenneth A. Age 79, of Farmersville, OH, went to be with his Lord in his new home, on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Trinity Community of Beavercreek, OH. Born to Charles Preston and Emma Belle (Yates) Morefield, on August 1, 1935, in Dayton, OH; Kenny later began his lifelong residency of the Farmersville, OH area. He graduated from Farmersville High School ~ Class of 1953. Kenny was dedicated to loving his family, as well as his Lord, and shared his gift of great humor and laughter with everyone. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Germantown. He was a former member of Germantown Lions Club and Past President of Germantown Eagles #2292. Kenny had a passion for training and racing harness horses. He retired from Valley View School Systems in 2001 after 22 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce E. (Puls) Morefield just 4 months earlier; his brother, Robert Morefield; and 5 sisters, Mary Vaughan, Katie Epperley, Aggie Puls, Glady Prikkel and June Kidwell. He is survived by his children, Becky (Jerry) Chestnut, Tammy (Darryl) Morefield, and Julie (Gary) Peck; his grandchildren, Jim, Hayley & Lindsay Chestnut, Ryan & Brad (Olivia) Peck; a great-grandson ~ on the way; his sister, Evalee Wampler; numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Kenny's life will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Family will receive friends 10 a.m. - 12 Noon (2 hours prior to the Service), at the Dalton Funeral Home, corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown, OH, where the Funeral Service will follow at 12 Noon, with Rev. Richard Luh officiating. Burial will be at Holp Cemetery, Farmersville; with dinner following at the St. John's United Church of Christ located at 201 W. Market Street in Germantown, OH. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Trinity Community of Beavercreek - United Church Homes & United Church of Christ, 3218 Indian Ripple Road, Beavercreek, OH 45440 or St. John's U.C.C., Germantown, OH 45327.
