Kenneth Paul Murphy

Sincere condolences to the Murphy family. Ken was a friend and classmate at the Fire Academy in 1973. A great firefighter, Ken had a broad base of knowledge and was always willing to help with just about anything. Always friendly and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
May he rest in eternal peace.

I met Ken through my brother, John Dougherty, and he quickly became a beloved friend to all of our family. I have no doubt that Ken was the "North Star" to his family (as so eloquently said in his obituary) because he was that kind of man to all that knew him. Ken was a great friend to my brother through some of his darkest and brightest days. I pray for his family at this difficult time of loss but take peace in knowing that he's surely in heaven.

Great Firefighter, Great family man, Mechanic, boatsman....Vietnam vet....Best man I've ever known! As I know all his fellow FF's do attest, when needed, He was always there....when in Fires, in the firehouse...when helping all of us, and that extended to our families.

in the 50+ years that ive known kenny i have never heard anyone say a bad thing about him. probably because there was nothing bad you could say about him. our condolences to his family. frank mcgovern(capt pfd ret.) also sends his regards

Ken and family. I am so sorry for your loss but want to be sure to celebrate the life of an amazing man. There are more memories and stories than could ever be shared here but he will live on in all of our hearts and minds. You are all in our our thoughts and prayers.

Ken was one of the most optimistic and solution-oriented people I have known. He faced tragedy with compassion and wise acceptance, lifted others who needed it and soldiered forward himself.

I'v known Kenny since he walked into Engine 6 in the seventies and have been a friend ever since. It was always a pleasure to hang around and talk to. Just a great man and will be missed.

Truly a Great Firefighter and an ultimate Gentleman indeed. As a rookie he treated me with the same respect as a seasoned FF. Rest in Peace Ken. Sincere condolences for his family.

I only know your son Ken who married my niece Sara and had two sons Padraic and Henry. You and your wife can certainly be proud of raising such a kind and loving son who with my dear Sara, have lovingly raised two great sons all of which you can be proud. Job well done. Rest in Peace

Ken was a man that we all looked up to, and me personally inspired to emulate as he was truly, truly the definition of a gentleman. Ken would go out of his way to share his knowledge, expertise, and time to help anyone. He put many long hour’s helping a knucklehead like me out, not only with mechanics or HVAC, but he taught me more about being a good fireman than anyone on the job. And not to disrespect some of the greatest firefighters I ever had the pleasure to work with Ken was second to none in my eyes. To Mary, Jeanne, Ken my deepest sympathy to you all and God Bless you all. He will truly be missed.

There are no words to say how much my family will miss you. Have that beer with Fuji beyond the stars.

RIP Brother & Friend!

Kenny and I crossed paths many times in our long careers in the fire department. But as our time in the job wound down and approaching retirement our last two years were spent working together in Battalion 8. When you work that closely together, just the two of us, you really get to know each other. We had many long conversations about everything from work to family. I found him to be probably the most hard working, caring, knowledgeable person I have ever met. When things got a little hectic on the foreground he was usually my calming factor and voice of reason. He always stayed in touch after moving to Florida and when he would come north we would meet up. He is probably talking strategy and tactics with his Dad and brother Steve right now. My condolences to his wife Mary and the entire Murphy family. I know I’m grateful for the time we had working together and proud to call him my Brother.

Uncle ken. I'm so sad that you are gone.. You were a great caring & loving with a big heart uncle. I'll miss you but will keep the memories tucked away in my heart.. I love you so much.. Rip Uncle Ken.
