Reading this came as a surprise to Mom (Karleen Pierce) and myself (Sami) Though we knew he was in treatment, it still came as surprisingly sad news . We have fond memories of his visits to Palm Beach, Fl and Chatham, MA. .. We spoiled him with his favorite Apple Pie. He had a wonderful sense of humor as did his mother Catharine. He was a prankster, and we'll all miss that little boy within. Our deepest condolences to Beth, his children and their families, brother Craig and Beth. RIP Ken

Ken and I went through basic training in the army at Fort Jackson, South Carolina beginning in October of 1955. We both were selected to to to Cryptography School in Ft. Gordon, Augusta, GA. Upon graduation we all were assigned priority duty at embassies, the white house and even Air Force One. A Crypto security clearance was higher than a top secret clearance and encompassed the coding and decoding of Top secret and all classified communications through out the USA Armed Services around the world. Prior to our ARMY duty ken did attend one year at Washington College prior to his transfer to the University of Virginia., where I did graduate. We both grew up in what is called the Main Line and area west of Philadelphia. In 2015 we did have a rendez-vous to review the 101st airborne year book representing our basic training class at Ft. Jackson. Ken was an exceptional CEO of Budget Rent a car of Florida and involved in many community charities and good deed projects in and around Winter,Park, Florida. Missing from Ken's obituary was that he was a best selling author of mystery novels having penned 4-5 spy novels. Ken will be sadly missed by all including all of his loving family and close circle of friends. May the lord smile upon him and bring everlasting comfort to his family and friends. I just recently learned of Ken's passing. Oct. 8, 2017.

Beth,
Jeanne andI want to express our deepest sympathies to you, and your family, on Ken's passing.
Ken will be missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know him, and as the quote from Shakespeare once said, "His likes will never pass this way again".

Ken and I met through a writing course at Rollins College back in mid-90's, then became email friends. His forwarded jokes or political insights were always welcomed.

He was charming, friendly & a classy man. I was privleged to have known him.

My thoughts go out to Beth & his family. At times like this, friends & family are strong support systems & blessings.
