Kenneth Russell

Kenneth Darrell "Kenny" Russell, 69, passed away on April 30, 2025, in Sequim, Washington, after a long battle with esophageal cancer.

Born on August 17, 1955, in Tacoma, Washington, Kenny spent his life rooted in the Pacific Northwest. He dedicated over 40 years to a career at Applied Industrial Technologies before retiring. His strong work ethic was matched by his devotion to family and the many friendships he nurtured throughout his life.

Kenny found joy in life's simple pleasures. A passionate karaoke enthusiast, he often lit up gatherings with his spirited performances. He played softball for many years-earning the nickname "Pigpen"-and enjoyed golf and bowling. Above all, Kenny cherished time with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.

Affectionately known as "Slappy," Kenny was known for his infectious sense of humor and endless supply of jokes. His warmth and wit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Cynthia "Cindy" Russell (Pitts); his children Tanya Peila (Justin) and Troy Russell (Diana); and his siblings Allen Russell (Joan) and Esther "Shelly" Mathena (Lance). Kenny's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Aylen Palma, Benjamin Palma, Carson Peila (Michelle), Anthony Tapia, Ashlee "Faith" Peila, Isabella Russell, and Noah Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Russell and Millie Schweitzer; and siblings Elva Abel (Elmer), Gary Russell, Lorene Levee (Robert), and Vicki Russell.

A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Valley Grange, 4629 70th Ave E, Fife, WA 98424.
