HEYWORTH - Kenneth D. Sledge, 63 of Heyworth, died at 11:05 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. His visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday (8-30-11) at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. Funeral and interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sledge family. He was born June 12, 1948 in Bloomington, the son of John H. and M. Louise Smith Sledge. He married Kimberly Frost on January 16, 1988 at Lytleville. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Angela Metcalf, Amy (Bob) Sutton, John (Angie) Mayfield, Jeremy (Jeannie) Mayfield and Jesse Sledge, all of Heyworth; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Roberts of Kansas, IL, and JoAnn McCullough of Lincoln; a brother, John D. (Sharon) Sledge of Heyworth; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Myrtle; and a nephew, Todd. Kenneth was a proud member of the U.A.W. Local 751 for 32 years. He was an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed karaoke with friends. He had a great love of horses and chickens. Kenneth enjoyed life to its fullest...and then some. Being Kenny's great niece this is such a loss. I have the fondest memories of him. He was always fair with me and I can't say that I didn't deserve every spanking that I took from him but I always knew that it was done out of love. Uncle Kenny you will be missed.

So sorry to hear about kenny, I remember our folks all being members at the Dewitt County Riding Club. He sure loved his horses.My thoughts are with the whole family at this time of loss.
