Kennith Lowery Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2018.
"God broke the mold"

Kennith Lowery, 67, of the Lumbee tribe, died Feb. 1, 2018.

He served in the USAF and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant (NCOIC Readiness) in 1995. He received the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal, both twice awarded, and the National Defense Service Medal, awarded for his service during the Vietnam War and Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

He continued to work in the same department as a civilian and retired in 2009, as a GS11. He was a Table Tennis Champion, playing for the USAF and later a Senior Table Tennis State Champion of MN 65+ in 2016, earning four gold medals and a USATT rating of 1241!

His greatest joy in life was sharing the Lord with everyone he encountered, frequently responding with, "Yeah, but what does that have to do with your salvation?" His faith was unshaken up to his dying breath! A close second was the love he had for his family. A strong and territorial guardian but at the same time gentle and a kind confidant. His earthly passions were collecting just about anything that was collectible, the excitement of an unknown treasure was a top thrill. He was always the impressive sportsman, his resume was long and included football, ping pong, roller-skating, bowling, etc.

Ken was respected, admired and he mentored SO many people throughout his life. He left this world untarnished in their eyes and that says a lot. He was a man of integrity and an impressive storyteller.

Ken was preceded in death by father, William Henry Lowry; and sister, Doreen Blue.

He is survived by wife, Leslie Aileen Lowery; daughters, Mesha Aileen Hair (Jeff Hair) and Tanuel Dawn Lowery (David Eide); grandsons, Jeff Gordon Hair III (Bonai Hair), Christian Ray Hair and Haakon Henry LoweryEide; mother, Elzetter Lowery; brother, William Lowery; and sisters, Dorita Graham and Dinah Fields.

In lieu of flowers, Ken would like donations made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars at heroes.vfw.org.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Church of the Nazarene, 3343 East Circle Drive NE, Rochester, MN 55906. Military memorial will be held in the Spring at Fort Snelling Cemetery.

Kenneth was one of my favorite childhood friends. He was part of our Pembroke Rolla-Rena family and we all loved him very much. He was my skating partner and we were quite good at one time. If I missed a step, he always had my back and would just lift me through the turn. He was very athletic and light on his feet for a big man.
I was very proud of Kenneth and what he had accomplished in his life. He made such an impact on everyone he met, and left this world a better place. He did his family and his tribe very proud. I had not seen Kenneth in years, and wish I'd had the chance to see him before his passing.
God only takes the very best.

This man leaves quite a legacy of being a caring husband, a joy-filled father, a passionate sportsman, a strong faith in Christ, and I'm seeing now what a mentor he has been to many people. I'm sorry for my friend Tanuel that you have to go through the loss of one of the great men in your life. I know he lives on through you and your sister and the generations to come! So happy he got to be a grand pawpaw to Haakon for his early life. He was so full of love!
