I knew Kent almost all my life, from when he came to my father´s architectural firm, later as an adult when I hired him for various remodeling designs on our floating home, recommended him to others needing an architect, and in later years when he and my dad were close friends as old men. Coincidentally, some years ago, Kent´s son Del moved onto a boat next to our houseboat, so I saw him occasionally when he visited.
My earliest memory of Kent is from sailboat races at Corinthian Yacht Club at Leschi, when I was in the 8th grade. My dad decided to learn to sail via racing a Thistle day-sailer. Kent and my mom were his crew. But I crewed in bad weather when Mom couldn´t go due to a bad back. Those were some crazy, exhilarating races!
Kent was everything described in the obituary. Essentially, a cheerful, friendly, kind lover of life - food, friends, music, sailing, good design. He was modest and didn´t charge enough for his services. He had a special knack for designs that are practical, solved problems, are handsome and yet not pretentious. He was really a nice guy. I´m grateful to have had him in my life.

Kent was a wonderful man who was very helpful with launching my career as an architectural designer. We also shared ownership of a San Juan 21 and spent many happy hours on the lakes in that boat. Always had a good story to share!
May he Rest In Peace!
