Dear Kenzie Houk family and friends,

I do not know or have ties with the family, but reading Kenzie's story in national headlines has had an impact on me and touched my heart. Know that you are in my prayers and that God will be with you always. Just reading about the outpouring of support and the many people that attended her memorial service for her and baby Christopher, goes to show the impact she had on people and a tribute to the good she brought in many lives. It is people like this I would like to know. May God be with each of you and know that time along with the wonderful memories Kenzie brought heal your hearts.

Jenny and the entire Houk families,
I use to live on Marshall Avenue. My kids played with all the Houk grandkids. I remember lil Jason coming down with a nice fresh haircut and he would always say Aunt KK did it. He was so proud. Kenzie was always so nice and wonderful with all the kids. My boys would come down Jenny's to go swimming and Kenzie was always playing with all the neighborhood kids. They loved her! My youngest Joey and Janessa have went to grade school together. He started Pre-K with Jason and Janessa. Then we moved to mohawk and I received an email from Kenzie saying that Janessa was coming to Mohawk. Joey was so excited. Kenzie was always so cheerful and happy.

My heart goes out to all of you! I pray morning and night for your families. Please find peace and comfort knowing that Kenzie and Christopher are now your angels watching over you! Kenzie is holding her lil one shining down on all of you.

With my deepest sympathy,
Lisa Doughty

The Houk and Burns Families,
My deepest condolences. Know that Kenzie and Baby are in heaven. My Mother, Mrs. Blaine N. (Nancy E) Houk was Kenzie's Sunday school teacher years ago at the Clifton Flats Mission on Pennsylvania Ave. and Berger Street, New Castle. I'm certain Kenzie was taught well of the way to Heaven and the Love of God! Oh what a joyous reunion must be happening on Heaven's streets of gold!!! May your sorrows be diminished by the peace of knowing Kenzie and Christopher are home in God's care waiting your arrival! May you all be comforted by God's presence and peace during this difficult time I will continue to remember you all in my prayers and pray for your continued strength in the days to come. May God Bless You and Kenzie's little girls.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Kenzie was such a fun person to hang out with. I will never forget the time we climbed on the roof of my mom and dads shed because we were cheerleaders and could not be afraid of heights. We always had so much fun at the sleep overs at my house. She will always be remembered in my heart . God take care of the precious little girls she left behind.

February 24, 2009

I met Kenzie when she worked at Bobbie's Salon. I could always count on seeing her bright, smiling face when I went in.

I enjoyed hearing stories about her life and her girls almost as much as she loved sharing them with me.

The twinkle in her eyes was as sweet as her personality.

Kenzie Houk was beautiful, without even trying.

She had a pure soul, a kind heart and a most gentle way about her.
Kenzie was real and that was more than wonderful; it was Kenzie.

Kenzie loved her children more than anything in the world. She was a young mother, but she was an OUTSTANDING mother.

Gone but never forgotten.

Dear Jack, Debbie and family,

I was saddened and shocked to hear of this tragedy on the national news. When I investigated a bit further, I discovered that Kenzie was the daughter of friends, neighbors and people with whom I had grown up and gone to high school.

Please know that you have been in our prayers as a family and as a church. May God comfort you with the blessing of good memories and may He bring you peace in time. One of my favorite verses is Romans 8:28. It has gotten me through some pretty rough times and I hope that its promise will bring you comfort and hope.

I have such heartfelt sorrow and sympathy for your entire family at this time. I have such good memories of Kenzie from when we were little. Every so often my family would remember something from when Kenzie and I were growing up together so even though we didn't talk much after growing up she was thought of. Everyday since Friday I've been thinking of all the fun things Kenzie and I did together growing up on the same street. Dragging the mattress outside to do gymnastics, setting up a fake construction site using Jack's cable stuff, just playing like kids played. Kenzie was a huge part of my childhood and her free spirit helped me losen up myself. She was a lot of fun. This is such a tragedy and is such a shame to happen to anyone, let alone someone so great. Kenzie, Christopher, and the entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.

When Angels sense you need them,
And Angels always do
They come, unseen, from everywhere
To help and comfort you.

They hover close beside you
'Till all your cares are gone,
'Till they can see you're ready
Once again to carry on.

Then some of them may fly away
And take their gentle touch
To other hearts that need the love
Of Angels very much.

But one, at least, stays with you
As your constant friend and guide,
For Guardian Angels never leave,
They're always at your side.

Jack, Debbie and Jen,

I cannot even begin to understand why this has happened. Kenzie was such a sweetheart and it was a Blessing to have watched her grow up into the beautiful young lady that she had become. I always told her that she reminded me so much of "Punky Brewster" her enthusiasm and spunk for life was contagious and she will be missed terribly. Please know that she will always be by your side watching over you all. We have lost a friend and heaven gained an Angel...
