Dear Brock family,
I only met Kevin once, but over the years, I was one of the many in his audiences who so enjoyed his talent on percussion and his exuberance for life that showed in his face. Kevin filled the space around him with joy. You have my deepest sympathy.

Jimmy and Claudia,
Linda and I were saddened when we heard of your son Kevin's passing. No parent should have to suffer a child's death. Although we never met Kevin, it is obvious from other guestbook entries that he was an exceptional son. Know that you are in our prayers that God will hold you in his hand and comfort you in this trying time. God bless you and your family.

Dear Brock Family:
Kevin was our 13-year-old son's drums teacher last year. He had a way of working with young people that inspired them, never talking down to them. He was always very professional -- time very well spent for our son. We are very sorry for your loss. (From the Family of Liam Dalton)

Jim and Claudia: I am so sorry to hear of your son Kevin's passing. I hadn't seen him since my days at Rusco when he was just a little guy. Since retiring I now live in Texas on the beach and keep in touch with Roanoke by the internet. My thoughts are with you now and your family. I hope you find some small consolation in the fact that Kevin was so well loved.

Brock Family,
I cannot say how shocked I was to hear this news. We were good childhood friends and I always looked up to him. I remember comparing snow-sledding injuries when we were kids. As we got older we grew apart somewhat but seeing each other socially was always a treat. I have never known a more naturally talented person in my life and have been inspired by our early friendship to this day. The heart of the entire music world skipped a beat with his passing. The smiles and laughter his incomparable whit inspired will always remain in my memories. My thoughts and prayers will be with the Brock family for some time to come.
Sincerely,
Sue W. and Tom Robertson

Dear Brock Family,
I can't tell you how incredibly sorry I am for your loss. I didn't know Kevin extremely well, but it was always a pleasure when I saw him or played music with him. It's rare to find someone who is both such a wonderful person and such an exceptional musician. I met him through both the teaching studio and mutual friends and was amazed at how his smile and warm personality could light up an entire room of people. It is a great loss to everyone down here in Chapel Hill and Carrboro as well and please know that he will be dearly, dearly missed.

Dear Brock family,
I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow you are experiencing now. Kevin's joy of living was abundantly clear to all who met him. I have been struggling to find words to describe him to my friends who hadn't had the pleasure of being around him. The phrase that keeps coming is "one of the sweetest people I'll ever know."
We were neighbors in Chapel Hill during the heyday of hipbone, and I well remember the night someone asked me at a club: "Are you the drummer's mother?" I took it as a compliment.
Peace unto you, and the love and strength of God.
