Kevin Dahnke

Kevin Eugene Dahnke, 63, passed away on April 26, 2025, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida at the FWB Medical Center. Born on February 9, 1962, in Biloxi, Mississippi, Kevin spent much of his life along the Gulf Coast, where he enjoyed a life rooted in surfing, skateboarding and the beach.

Kevin graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in 1980 and went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi. His professional journey led him into the hospitality and restaurant industry, where he made lasting impressions as assistant manager at Delchamps Liquors in Destin and later as kitchen manager at Harbor Docks restaurant during the 1980s and 1990s. Kevin's good-nature and presence were well known among colleagues and patrons alike.

Baptized and confirmed at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Destin, Kevin maintained a spiritual connection to the community. Outside of work and faith, Kevin found joy in the sun and surf. As a teenager, he was an avid skateboarder and fanatical surfer who cherished time swimming and relaxing on the beach with friends. On any given summer day, he was usually hanging out at the old East Winds Surf shop with owners Fred and Larry... swapping tales but mostly making everyone laugh. These passions reflected his easygoing nature and love for coastal living.

Kevin was deeply loved by his family. He is survived by his beloved "mom", Betty Jo Dahnke; brothers Mike Dahnke (and his wife Mary Lynn) and Shawn Dahnke (and his wife Irene) and their son, Kevin's nephew Royce Dahnke; his daughters Miriam Leonard (and her husband Morgan) and Alba Dahnke; and his four grandchildren-Mila Jo Leonard, Jayden Michael Leonard, Kalei Pukonakona Mai, and Liliana Laine Reeves-who brought immense joy to his life. Kevin also leaves behind his constant companion, his rescue Chihuahua, little Pooper. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, GW "Tater" Dahnke. Kevin's memory will also be held close by his longtime girlfriend Quyen Le.

Kevin's kind-hearted spirit, sense of humor, and laid-back demeanor left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the laughter of grandchildren playing near the waves that he once surfed and through memories shared among family and friends.
