Loved and Missed by Family and Friends

Laurie A. Langlois

January 21, 2022

The time is here my dear friend Kevin, to recognize the anniversary of your untimely passing. Although the memories fade a little each year the feelings I hold for our friendship remains strong. The Challenge coin you gave me is my good luck charm and I hold it when I need strength. I miss you and your fair play and wisdom. My thoughts go out to Beth, your kids and your siblings on this anniversary date. Stay cool Kevin. 2022

We certainly miss you and will always have Beth and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Watch over us and rest in peace kind Sir.

On the eve of the first anniversary of Kevin's passing I remember with warmth Kevin's friendship, strength and knowledge and the passion he had for his family and the International Police Association. My heart is still full of sadness at losing my friend. My thoughts are with Beth and the family and Kevin's sisters.

Warmest Regards,

I am so sorry to just find out about Kevin's passing. My deepest sympathy to his family. As we grow older, those whom we were close to in high school are brought to mind often as we reminisce our younger days. Kevin & I dated as Juniors, & as a group (Bruce, Danny, Darla) we shared much laughter & a little craziness. I'll never forget his VW bug with pole flag on the rear bumper. You could see him coming from a mile away! He took me to his Junior Achievement events & even then, his leadership qualities were strong. Rest in peace, my friend. I'll always remember those youthful days fondly.

I miss you more every day, I reach for the phone and you're not there, I want to email you and you won't answer. I talk to you all the time, laughing, crying, sometimes even scolding. I get a pain in my heart when I think of you. You are very much in my thoughts every day, I miss you sooo much!

Rest in Peace old friend you will be sorely missed by Beth and your family within the IPA community.

Kevin was as 'stand up' as they come. First got to,know him when he was an
officer in Cahokia, we became friends and even after he went to Mascoutah
we worked on several things together.
He was always focused on what was at hand. Have talked to him many times since I retired and even after he retired. He was dedicated to the IPA,and will be missed there as well as by his family and friends. My prayers will be with his family.

I am sad to lose my friend Kevin, a good ally in our IPA mission in North America. Kevin did good for all around him, he was discreet and wanted things to be right. A straight shooter with a low profile attitude. I will miss him dearly. On behalf of IPA Canada, i wish Beth and family courage and strenght in these tough times. For the IPA US Section, he will be difficult to replace. May our friendship continue to grow as Kevin worked hard for us to be united since he was elected as National President. God Bless you mon ami.
Repose en Paix.

I am still in shock. For decades, Kevin Gordon has been the heart and soul of the U.S. International Police Association (IPA). He was the spark-plug and actively engaged in so many parts of the IPA, it is very hard to image any one person filling his shoes. Kevin was a doer of the first order in everything he took on, which was a lot! Rest in Peace Kevin.

I only met Kevin once, but was extremely impressed with his knowledge, skills, and demeanor. His passing is a horrible loss to our society. May God sooth the family and remind them of the joyous times they spent with Kevin. As a member of IPA Region 8 I know we have lost an outstanding leader.

Kevin and I met in the world of law enforcement training as fellow Monadnock International Instructors-A world where trainers give back to those that protect and serve. Kevin was one of those that GAVE selfishlessly - to his students, to his fellow officers friends, and to the community. I am sure it was the same with his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. God bless and know that he is with the Lord.

Dear Beth and family. I am an IPA Member out of Region 37 in Carmel, California. My wife Judy and I met Kevin on the IPA See America trip to our National Parks this past summer. It was great to get to know Kevin on a personal level and it was easy to see right off that he was a positive person. He made our trip very memorable and are so sorry to hear of his passing. I sat in front of him while on the bus and we talked quite a bit. It was clear to me how much you, your children and grand children meant to him. I know him missed not being with you. He took good care of all of us, but his mind and heart was at home with you and the family. Like so many of the good ones he was taken much to soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. We will always keep Kevin in our thoughts and we are so glad we had the chance to get to know him. KEVIN WAS A GREAT LAW ENFORCEMENT MAN, AND A BETTER PERSON. HE WAS ALSO A GREAT TEACHER FOR NEW POLICE OFFICERS. PRAYERS TO HIS FAMILY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT FAMILY

January 28, 2016

Officer Gordon was truly a "A Good Man". As a teenage girl I had a lot of problems at home. There was an abuse situation going on. I ran away several times and was always caught and taken back home. No one believed what was going on, but Officer Gordon did. I ran away again, staying with a good family that was just helping me. Officer Gordon knew that if I went back that I would be abused again. He knew where I was and he checked on me at least 3 plus times a week. We talked and he was my friend. He made sure I knew to stay true to myself and to do well in this life...no matter what happened to me. I admired and truly was and am thankful for his kindness and his concern for me. He taught me there were good people in this life. I spoke of him recently to a friend of mine, telling them what a good man he is. I told her I was thinking of going to visit him and to thank him for his kindness all those years ago, because it still means so much to me. I am truly so very sorry to his family and friends for their loss. I know my words can never take the pain away, but you are in my thoughts and my prayers. Just please know how much he meant to so many. I know I was not the only person that he touched with his kindness and good heart. It is truly a great loss of his passing for so many. May he be Resting In Peace!

The Weaving

My life is but a weaving, between my God and me;
I do not chose the colors, He worketh steadily.
Oft times He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper, and I the under side.
Not til the loom is silent, and shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why
The dark threads are as needful in the skillful Weaver's hand
As threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.

Chief you were on an amazing person and it breaks my heart to see that such a kind soul is no longer here with us. You taught me so much about life and how to dominate it. You help lift my head up when I felt like giving up and you showed me how to become a better person. There is so much I needed to learn from you still and now instead of "What Would Barney Think?" it will be "What Would Chief Think?" I thank you for the wonderful words of wisdom over the years I have known you and I really wish you and the wife had gotten to meet my little Reilly. I will miss you so much but I know you are still watching over every single life you have touched! I love you Chief, Fly high and may you rest in peace.

One instantly flashes to the last time they had contact with a good friend when they pass before their time. For me, it was about four days before Kevin's death.
We shared a moment and a laugh over one of the bits in my newspaper column - a pleasant exchange filled with easy banter that perfectly characterized our 21-year friendship.
In the blink of an eye, Kevin is gone and I'm left to recall our last laughs together. The hole in my heart from his leaving may never be repaired. I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Wise is the man who fortifies his life with friendships. The outpouring of love from around the world today for Kevin demonstrates he was truly a wise and kind man who touched lives in a positive way.
Kevin was a remarkable man - a private person who belonged to the public whether he wanted it or not - a citizen not only of Mascoutah, but of St. Clair County, the nation and the world.
I am so sorry for the loss of your husband, father and brother.
