Our deepest condolences to Tilli, Leanne, Trevor and family. Max and I are very sorry to hear of Kevin's passing. He was the hardest working member I ever knew, but more importantly, he was one of the best people I ever worked with. Kind, patient, helpful, with the most wonderful sense of humour and a mischievous sparkle in his eye. I have so many wonderful memories of him. I will never forget him. Rest in peace my friend. Our sincere condolences to Tilli and the family. I remember working with Kevin on Highway Patrol in Agassiz. Every shift had a memory. Kevin's smile and sense of humor were infectious and I remember many a coffee at the Cherry cafe. He was a hard worker and always started the day with a positive attitude. Kevin was a great role model. I still tell stories of our time working together when reminiscing with other policeman. Kevin's motto while on Highway Patrol was "The Few, The Proud, The Patrol" which I adopted as my own until my retirement. It was a pleasure and honor and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My condolences go out to the Kimler family. I had known Kevin since his Tahsis days. It was always a pleasure to make contact with him from time to time during his patrols throughout the Comox Valley. He was my casual source of info on the goings on with the RCMP, also my former employer. He was a great policeman and a very fine individual. I will miss him.

As one of Kevin's more distant (as in miles) cousins, I only saw him a few times, but I recall being impressed by his generosity and kindness. My heart goes out to Uncle Otto, Trent, Tilli and their children, and the rest of my Kimler family.
love,
Cynthia Kimler Ullmann (Ben's youngest)

I also had the pleasure of working with Kevin in Courtenay. Always the positive one in any situation, always generous to those around him. He was a great fireman, policeman and in retirement cared about helping others in need. He will always be remembered and missed . Condolences to Tillie and the kids but remember he will always be there even now watching over you

It's hard to believe that I met Kevin 20 years ago. I consider myself blessed to have worked with him as a new recruit. Even after 20 years, those are the memories that are the most vivid for me as a police officer. He always had a smile, a quick wit and enough stories to fill 2 lifetimes. He worked hard but had fun and infected those around him with the same attitude. When I think of what the RCMP should be, I think of Kevin - compassionate, fair, dedicated and not afraid to deal with the tough issues. Kevin was one of the best mentors I had in the RCMP (I have a funny feeling that some of my other mentors look to Kevin as theirs)... I still consider myself a proud member of 'A' Watch.

Here is to a late night coffee on Cliffe Ave, after things have calmed down, and we all laugh at another one of Kevin's many escapades.

You will be missed, but always remembered.

My deepest condolences to the Kimler Family, and friends of Kevin. I feel so fortunate to have known him, and work with him. What a beacon of human goodness Kevin was, and he was consistently so. You will always be remembered, Kevin. I'm sorry you had to go.

Kevin you truly were larger than life. You had a good heart and the patience to help guide a baby constable and teach her how not only how to be a good cop, but also to bring that humanity to a job that sometimes wears us away.
Your sense of humour was so refreshing and your work ethic and genuinely positive attitude were a rarity. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

June 10, 2016

When the RCMP Staffing Branch is placing a recruit, or transferring a member from one posting to the next; they want hard working, self motivated members who require little or no supervision to work in rural detachments. Besides being a really nice guy to work with, Kevin more than fit the bill to being an efficient and effective peace officer in these rural settings where often as not it meant one man patrols. As an NCO in Agassiz I knew I could always rely on Kevin to deal with his work load efficiently. I always appreciated knowing Kevin was on my shift and would back me up if needed. He was an excellent peace officer and an all around nice guy to work with..
I know Kevin was a great husband and father who loved his family dearly, and he will be missed by all of us who knew him.
God only takes the good ones away from us much too soon. R.I.P. Kevin.

Tilli, Leanne and Trevor,
Words cannot express the deep sadness we share with you in losing Kevin. He was such a kind human being.
We treasure the times we shared with him, from the first day we met him and your family many years ago in Tahsis. We are so grateful for the friendship you offered and kept up for so many years.
We will remember his great story telling, his ready smile, his mischievous pranks, his great sense of humour and his generosity of spirit. We shared a lot of laughs. He will be deeply missed.
The world is a little darker without Kevin in it. May he rest in peace and may his memory shine on. Hugs to you all.

Rick Senger

June 10, 2016

We first met Kevin and Tilli in 1989 when I had just been transferred to Tahsis as a new fishery officer. My wife and I and our two children had just checked into a motel while we were waiting for the delivery of our furniture when we heard a knock on the door. When we opened the door we were greeted by this very nice couple who welcomed us to our new community and presented us with some of Tilli's freshly baked muffins. We were pleasantly surprised because we didn't know anyone in Tahsis, but Kevin, using his local contacts and fine investigative skills figured we just might be in one of the two motels in town. Anyway, we immediatley became friends and have been good friends ever since.

Kevin was such a warm and friendly guy who loved his wife and children more than anything. He was all about community service which was why he was such a great police officer. It was so obvious he had perfected the art of policing in a small town which can very challenging for those that have ever tried. He clearly found the right balance of maintaining law and order with courtesy and respect. He was very proud of being a member of the RCMP or as he humorously called it "canada's largest street gang".

Kevin will be missed many but never forgotten.

Tilli and family. Please accept our sincere condolences at this difficult time.. Kevin was one of the great ones; a great father, husband,an outstanding policeman and a true gentleman. While I have a million "Kevin stories" that we shared and experienced over the years one keeps coming back to me. I had been promoted back to Comox Valley Det from District Major Crime Unit and had been out of General Duty police work for close to 10 years. Insp Bob Boyd told me he was putting me in charge of a Watch and when he did so he must have anticipated my angst because he immediately followed up with "I'm giving you Kevin Kimler as your Senior Constable". The weight of the world was immediately lifted from my shoulders and Kevin did not disappoint and helped me beyond belief. I will miss him. Tilli, remember what I said when I last visited Kevin; you are part of a very large family and please lean on us when you need to. God speed my brother until we meet again.

Tilli, Leanne, Trevor, and Otto:

We are so sorry for your loss. We were so saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. I was very fortunate to have known Kevin for the last 20+ years, first meeting him while I was still with the MP's at CFB Comox. Kevin would stop by the guardhouse for coffee in the wee hours of the morning and tell the absolute best stories. He was always up, positive and the funniest person in the room! When I joined the Force I had the pleasure to post to Courtenay Detachment on Kevin's watch. He immediately informed everyone it would be an officer safety issue to have two Kevin's on the same watch...it could confuse people in a high stress moment. To solve the problem, on my first shift, he decided I would have to be called "mini-me" to ensure there was no confusion!! From that point on, I was mini-me!!! For years I would tell Shawna the stories of Kevin...his professionalism, his dedication, his kindness and his humour. Prior to leaving the Island, Shawna was fortunate enough to work with Kevin on City Traffic...where she learned I wasn't exagerating!! I cherished Kevin's mentoring, leadership, and friendship. He was a great friend and true professional. He will be missed. Rest in peace, friend.

Since learning of Kevin's untimely and unfair passing I have spoken with many peers from those days in Agassiz when we were all posted and worked together. We all know only too well that Kevin was a great, great guy, conscientious worker, had a great sense of humour, gentle and fair way with everyone he met.
Damn Cancer !
There are no words that make this loss easy to understand or accept. A few days ago I shared these words to Tilli that helped me cope with the loss of a great co-worker in Squamish and I once again turned to;
"God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be, so he wrapped his arms around you and whispered come to me. You didn't deserve what you went thru, so he gave you rest. Gods garden must be beautiful, he only takes the best. And when he saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain, I could not wish you back to suffer that again"
Embrace the memories with Kevin,
Treasure every day with family and friends,
Our thoughts are with the Kimler family.
Stay safe Kevin

Tilli & family,
it's hard to find the right words to say how shocked & saddened we are to hear of Kevin's passing. In thinking back, it doesn't seem that long ago Kevin walked into Agassiz Det for the 1st time. From that day on, it was obvious he was a kind, caring, genuine & yes, a prankster of a man who treated everyone equally. I also remember when you guys started to date & got married. May all the memories the 4 of you shared together as a family help you get through this most difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Donna & Daryl

He was a great man and no doubt a great husband and father. May you have some solace in reading the numerous messages from across Canada that Kevin was indeed a great man who will not be forgotten by his many friends. He is gone but will live on in our memories forever...

There are many things in life that are not fair and the loss of Kevin Kimler so young is one of those things. He just made the world a better place. Brightened the day of those he came in contact with. He told a great story and appreciated a good laugh. He did his job with integrity and the intention to protect and serve (I know because he pulled me over once before I knew him but never told him that- I am sure he would have had a good laugh). He was humble and kind and loved his family to the ends of the earth. I hope that all those that had the pleasure of knowing him will hold the memories of such a special man near to them. I know I will. My sympathies to Tilli, Leanne, Trevor, Otto and all his family and friends.

Tilli, Trevor, Leanne & Family,

Words cannot describe the sorrow that all of you and anyone who knew Kevin are experiencing right now and we all feel that we lost someone very special last Saturday. He was truly a loving family man, trustworthy friend, dedicated Policeman and one of the nicest guys I have ever met and worked with. His sparkle in his eye always kept one on guard as you knew there was a practical joke waiting to happen and he would go at great lengths to see anyone laugh. The communities that he served, the people that he helped and those fortunate enough to work along beside him are all blessed and richer in spirit because of your husband, father, son and brother. Thank you for sharing this special person with all of us.
Blessings,

I had the pleasure of working with Kevin while stationed in Agassiz. Truly a great Police Officer and wonderful person. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
