Kevin Macfarlane

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Kevin Macfarland during this difficult time. There is little that I can say, or do to ease your pain and suffering. May knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many, bring a measure of comfort. Life is so short and those we love are gone from our lives too quickly.Gods promise to empty the grave in the near future, is found at Hosea. 13:14. Dear MacFarlane Family,
My name is Sam Goodman, and I grew up in Sea Isle City playing soccer when I met Kevin, Jerry and his Dad in Avalon. My fondest memories of him were the smile on his face as I chased him all over the soccer field for hours... he never ever slowed down, never gave up and never got tired! He made me a better soccer player because he brought out my best game.. always !
Later, I was fortunate enough to be on his Team, coached by his Father, and this is where I really got to know Kevin as a person too. Just the nicest guy, great friend and a great athlete and was never afraid to help anyone improve their game. That was rare back then. So when I heard years later he turned pro, I was not surprised. When I heard he was a coach, again I was not surprised....
The fact that Kevin passed away too young and the manner in which he passed DID surprise me. I am one of the lucky ones, and by the Grace of God I continue to recover from substance abuse. But when I see one of my childhood friends go to God way too soon, it rattles by soul and renders me powerless once more.
I will never forget our soccer games, I will never forget your Father's accent yelling out to me on the field and I will won't forget you pal !

To my buddy KMAC, Uncle Kev,
Kevin's passion for soccer is virtue will never be destroyed. This passion pushed him over and over again to be the best ever in Cape May County. He never gave up.
His goal was to grow the game in Cape May County. Spoke to me a lot about his training sessions and we shared ideas.
When coaching he tried to take their Mind and Body to a Place where they never been, to Grow Them.
A great coach at Venice High School.
He was truly a friend and brother to many people.

I am so sorry to learn of Kevin's passing. He was always a friendly face and offered a cheery hello when we saw each other on the streets of Avalon. He cared for his family and his father couldn't have been more proud of his athletitic accomplishments. Disappointed that I missed the service but know he is in my thoughts and prayers.

You leave behind many grateful friends, coaches and teammates who had the opportunity to share a field (and the occasional beer) with you. You were a great friend, teammate and person. The SJ Soccer community will miss you, and will always remember your contributions, both on and off the field. RIP My friend. I will always treasure our friendship.

Iam so saddened to hear of the passing of a wonderful young man! I fondly remember many a Christmas Eve at the Biscuits reminiscing about Belmont Abbey and Father Mo. I too attended the Abbey but was a few years older than Kevin. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. God has taken a true gem from us he will be truly missed never forgotten.

It is with a very heavy heart that we learned about Kevin's untimely passing. I shared a good bit of my youth with Gerald and was always very taken with a Kevin, his parents and younger brothers.

I send my heartfelt condolences to Gerald and to your Dad and brothers. Hope you can rejoice in memories of your brother on the playing fields, at work and in your home. The passing years have not changed the affection I have for you, Gerald, and although I am saddened by your loss, I hope you can take all the experiences you had with Kevin to your heart always.

Jerry and the entire family, this news of Kevin has shocked me to no end. Living in Avalon for 14 years it's amazing how close everyone is/was. We all loved the Macfarlane/Honer family, and still do....there are no words that can express my sadness. May the Lord be with you all during this difficult time. Charlotte Todd (Ashworth)

Loved Kevin so much he was a good friend and I will miss him we had so many good times together in high school and after I will miss you my friend thanks for always being my ride you are the Best!

We used to live in Avalon and were acquainted with the McFarlanes and Lottie Honer. Our girls went to Wildwood Catholic. The news of Kevin's untimely death reached us in our various new locations and touched us deeply. Obviously, Kevin had a unique calling in this life and there will be no one to replace him.

Our hearts go out to the family. May all those saints Kevin loved surround him warmly and may he continue to be a guide and inspiration to all who loved him so dearly.

Very sorry for your loss. I did not Kevin but we shared Abbey so cer. He was one of us!

Kevin was our brother. He called Kate his Sis, and me, His brother. He ate Thanksgiving dinner with us. He regarded us as family. He was kind, caring, loving, forgiving, talented, loyal, funny, extremely handsome, and very spiritual. He loved spending time in his "Cova",his garage, praying , reading and being with his friends. He was his Dad's caretaker, and took care of him with such love and kindness. He was was our "Braveheart", he endured such painful skin cancer surgery . He was concerned but remained positive when it returned a few months ago. Recently, his old soccer injuries caused him immense pain but he rarely complained. You are out of pain now our Dear Brother. We love you dearly. Sadly missed by Kate and Jim Collins

Kevin and I went to the Abbey during the same years. He treated everyone the same and with a lot of love. I was honored to have called him my friend during College.

So, sorry for your loss! Kevin and I attended Belmont Abbey together. He was a kind, funny, easy going person.
