Kevin Adrian Mason

Kevin Adrian Mason, age 61, passed away April 17th, 2024 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. Kevin was born at Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina on October 22, 1962.

He was the son of Edward and Brenda Mason. Kevin grew up on the Coosa River in Southside, Alabama. He attended Southside high school and graduated in the class of '81. He attended Gadsden State Community College for two years and then went on to study engineering at the University of Alabama, co-oping with Monsanto in Pensacola, Florida while he worked towards his degree. He graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1987. From 1987 to 2010, Kevin worked as a process engineer and later as a project manager at Weyerhaeuser. He then worked at Domtar in Columbus, MS doing engineering, and later became Assistant Warehouse Plant Manager. Since 2011, he was employed at Tronox in Hamilton, MS as a product development engineer.

He was currently married to Arden Franklin Mason, formerly of Columbus, MS. They made their home on the river in Aberdeen. Kevin's main interest besides work was fishing. He formerly did tournament fishing, including the national B.A.S.S. Federation Championship in 2003 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in which he represented Mississippi with immense pride. He enjoyed playing his guitar and banjo, singing with his daughter, and dancing. In Aberdeen, he enjoyed fishing off the dock and on the Tombigbee River. Kevin was always a die-hard Alabama fan who loved to wear an Alabama cap.

He is survived by a son, Brody Mason, a daughter, Autumn Mason, and a granddaughter, Alexandra Mason of Columbus, MS. Survivors also include a sister, Deanna Mason Barfield, and her husband, Dwayne, and two nieces, Marcie Barfield and Megan Abernathy. His mother is currently living at Oaktree Manor in Amory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Mason.

Services for a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Visitation will be from 4-6pm with the service following. Memorials may be made in Kevin's honor to Faith Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, Mississippi.
