Lifeboat
Inhale the air, I sail and share
Salt sprays, I taste, it frays my hair
Drops bite my skin and sting my eyes
I smile, glad to be alive
The breeze is bold, it smacks my sheet
I pull the jib, and when we meet
We push and pull and test our force
I use its fight to steer my course
No destination do I need
Experience is what I heed
Water so deep I’ll never know
How life would be, if ‘twere not so
We ease the main; I laugh and cry,
Another sea, out of my eyes
God damn, I feel so good, alive.
I look around and wonder why,
You could not share this wind I ride.

I didn't know Mac personally. I only saw him once or twice but I do know he was a great man. He was very good to his family as they were back to him. Karen, Heather, Paige, and Glenn took very good care of him. It's very unfair someone of such greatness had to suffer so much but he's in a better place now. My condolences to all that lost Kevin J. McCormick.

Words can never capture the full essence and memory of such a person as your father, that's what makes him so magnanimous and impossible to capture in words. I know you know this and it is a wonderful thing. He is permanently ingrained in my earliest memories as a child. To me he was often a father figure or a wise uncle always ready to bestow his worldly wisdom or uncensored encouragements, that we can always do better, aspire to be a better person. In addition to being a great family man, a great bread man, he was also an American hero that you usually only get to read about in great novels or history books. He was all these things and so much more. I'm so glad to have been a welcome part of your family my whole life and love you all. My thoughts, prayers and heart are with you and your families
Love,
Wally

Dear Karen, Heather, Paige and Glenn,
Our hearts are heavy for you all. Kevin fought so long and so hard, as did you! He was an inspiration and a courageous man. Please know that you are with us in thoughts and prayers. Mac is now "free" to soar as your own Guardian Angel. We know that you all were his Angels here on Earth. He is now in the loving arms of the Greatest Healer. God Bless him and all of you.
With Love, Kathy and Fred

Jason, Jeremy, and Janine:
I was so terribly sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. Kevin was a great dad and a great person. I have many memories of Kevin from all the years that we grew up together in West Springfield, but the thing that sticks in my mind the most are all of the backyard barbeques that we had during the summers. I remember Kevin was always laughing and having a good time. Those were wonderful days that will never be forgotten. My deepest sympathies to you all during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jason, Jeremy and Janine-
I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. I have fond memories of him throughout my childhood. He always had something nice to say and a unique sense of humor, especially when Jason and I would get in trouble as kids. The loss of a parent is always hard.
I know you will keep the memory of your Dad alive in your hearts and minds.
Wishing you and all his family peace.

My first memory of Kevin was being welcomed to the wonderful Christmas Eve celebrations at your home on Craiwell Ave. Looking back they were the family gathering that everyone looked forward to especially your grandparents! The celebration with family & friends was the best. Kevin was a great man and a wonderful father. I know you can fall back on those great memories to get you thru these difficult times of sorrow.

To Jason, Jeremy, Janine and Families~
My deepest sympathy to you with the loss of your father. He was a wonderful man who I found to be so courageous throughout his battle with MS. His stories were always so facinating- I often thought of him during difficult struggles in my life to give me the energy to carry on. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during your time of sorrow.

Jason, Jeremy & Janine,
Please accept our heart felt sympathy for the loss of your father and our old friend.
Our memories of your father span decades going back to his teenage years when he was first dating your Mom. As the years passed, we shared so many wonderful experiences, it would be difficult to list them all. Some of the best, however, were all those Christmas Parties at the McCormick home from the time you guys were just babies to when you were all grown up. Your father was always the gracious host, welcoming one and all. He certainly loved a party, but of all things he loved his family most of all. In that, we hope you take some solace. By the measure of how much he loved each one of you, your father was in fact a great father and will always be remembered as such.
Thinking of you at this time of loss & sorrow,
Mary Lou Lattinville McCormick

The loss of a father is difficult, but trying to remember a lifetime is even harder. Prior to his disability, Kevin worked as an Arnold Bread distributor knowing he could only do this until the disease would stop his mobility. Even this disability couldn't erase how proud he was from watching his sons wrestle or his daughter play soccer for the West Springfield High School teams. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I remember Kevin from working with him at Positions, Inc in West Springfield back in the 1980's. He was one of the good guys. He became one of my heroes during his battle with MS because of his overall attitude and the way he handled it. We had some great times together. I know he's on to a MUCH brighter world now. Passing from this plane of existence is traveling into the next world of the worlds of God. You will be in my prayers.

Jason, Jeremy & Janine:
Losing a parent, son, brother, or friend isn't easy regardless of what age you are, but one thing is certain, memories will always be forever. My memories of Kevin started when I met him in 7th grade in West Springfield (47 yrs ago. I'll never forget the good times we shared at Riverdale Street or my house on Main Street, or the many parties at Vernon Place, and Craiwell Avenue. Kevin was a smart man who debated many an issue with whomever would listen. I'm confident he'll be remembered as a loving and caring father who regardless of his tough physical times, was always present for the important moments in his three children's lives. His love for them was always strong and generous. If you asked me to give a rating, and someone once did, I'd have to say Kevin, his life, his children and his family are a ten plus!
