Kevin McCormick Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Jan. 22 to Jan. 25, 2008.

McCormick Kevin Lindsay passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 7pm at the age of 52. Survived by his loving wife Cyndy; his son Damien (Agnes); parents Lindsay and Eileen McCormick; sisters Jennifer (Keith) and Paddy Howe; brother Tim (Lori); granddaughter Margaret; niece Natalie; nephews Darryl and Riley Blott, Tim Howe, Dylan and Joel McCormick; stepchildren Ashley, Briane and Tim. After a very courageous battle with Cancer and surrounded by the love of his family and friends, Kevin was finally able to peacefully embark on his greatest Journey. While wrapped in the comfort of Cyndy's arms, Kevin decided to wait until their favorite show, Coronation Street came on when he squeezed her hand and took his final breath. Although Kevin was an extremely dedicated employee to BCBC for the past 32 years and who rarely missed a single day in all that time, his true passion was his music. Kevin was an extremely accomplished musician who has inspired so many with his brilliance as a guitarist. Kevin's abilities even made the accordion seem cool. At a very early age Kevin decided to explore the world in search of enlightenment and returned to us with the wisdom and experience of a much older man. Since his return he has focused on friends, love, laughter and food and we are all blessed for having had him in our lives. As was your way, you decided to leave the party early with us all wanting more and we will miss you every day until we meet again. In lieu of donations and flowers, we have something special in mind to keep Kevin's dream alive and respectfully ask that people hold off until the date of the service where we will provide information about this Charity. For those unable to attend, information will be available through the following website: www.gosee.tv/kevin/ . Services will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, January, 27th at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam, BC.

I just heard this news on a Facebook music group. I knew Kevin through the music business and have often thought about Kevin fondly over the years, and I regret that we lost touch with each other. I am heartbroken to hear this and I will miss him.

I knew Kevin many years ago as Jennifer's very cool, very talented big brother. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Eileen and Lindsay McCormick, Jennifer, Paddy, Tim, their families. I can only imagine how devastating Kevin's loss is for such a close and loving family. My thoughts and prayers are will all of you.

I met you at the "end" but you and I both knew that this end was just the beginning of another adventure. Your intelligence, patience and dignity was admirable and I loved our chats about our mutual love of music. See you in the next life Kevin.

"There are many reasons to remember someone and of the most profound is when that someone gives joy to the people around him. The time I spent with Kevin always left me happier than when it began. It's a real shame to lose him and he will be dearly missed by myself and my family. I will miss his laughter, his smile, his humour, his friendship. He will remain my friend, always."

My thoughts and prayers are with Kevin's family at this sad time. I knew Kevin for many years, having worked with him at Riverview and, of course, the famous, Sunday Jams, which were our highlight of the week. Will always remember you with fondness Kevin, love, Angie (Berg)

Kevin was the type of friend that no matter how much time passed between seeing one another, it was like no time had passed at all. I will miss his fabulous smile, his contagious laugh and his incredible sense of fun. Goodbye my old friend, you will be missed.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. Although we only knew him from work he was always such a postive, easy going person. He always seemed to have an aura of calmness and serenity about him and was always willing to help with whatever was needed. He is gone too young and will be missed.

The world seems just a bit duller without that strange magic that Kevin carried with him. Still I have to smile at the thought of it.
I hope he took his "bullet proof rhinocerous skin jacket" and some bear meat "samidges" with him. My best to Cyndi and the McCormick family. Take care.

You will be missed by all of us who knew you. The world is a note less beautiful without you.
