Kevin McPadden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2020.
Kevin McPadden, 62
IT technical engineer; proud of Irish heritage, loving grandfather
Kevin McPadden, 62, a proud native Staten Islander who was a beloved husband, stepfather, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2020.
He was the beloved husband of Francine (Kardel) Mc Padden for 22 years; loving stepfather of Angela (Hedi) Ardolic and Katiejo (Billy) Phelps; cherished grandfather of Leilah Ardolic, and dear son of the late Edward Mc Padden and Elizabeth Reilly. Kevin was the youngest of five and was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Robert Reilly, Margaret (Bonnie) Meehan, Elizabeth Bonner, and Edward Mc Padden. He was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and his best friends, Andres and Anthony, as well as his best buddy, Nicholas.
Mr. Mc Padden was born on Jan. 20, 1958, in the former Richmond Memorial Hospital in South Beach, Staten Island. He was raised in Oakwood and live in Travis for 22 years. Kevin is a graduate of New Dorp High School, where he won MVP in Track and Field in 1972 for the 880 yards long distance run. He also won numerous trophies under Coach Bill Welch. He later attended De Vry Institute and gruaduated in 1992 as an IT technical engineer. Mr. McPadden proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. White Plains AFS-4 during Desert Storm, as a radioman.
From the years 2000 to 2017, he worked for various electronic companies as an independent contractor. He spent time with Racal Electronics in Morganiville, N.J., as an electronics engineer from 1993 to 2000 and later finished his career with Sonifi of Sioux Falls, S.D. Kevin had a passion for animals, and worked as an associate for Blue Buffalo, which allowed him to spend time with many animals.
Mr. McPadden was a family man, as he enjoyed having family and friends gathered around histable for family dinners. Being proud of his Irish heritage, his favorite dinners were on St. Patrick's Day, but he wouldn't eat the traditional dinner that his wife cooked. Instead, he chose to eat his favorite dishes such as spaghetti and meatballs, and homemade chocolate cream pie.
He was an avid runner, running through town and enjoying time talking to neighbors. His greatest joy in life was his granddaughter. He cherished his time with her, as she was the light of his life. She affectionately called him "PA" and they spent many hours playing together on the floor. He was whatever she wanted him to be, from a horse to a ballerina. They loved having water fights with their water guns in the summer, along with playing bingo, checkers, and the games they made up together.
Kevin was very patriotic, as he flew the American flag everyday outside his home, and was a member of the American Legion. He was a Mets and Miami Dolphins Fan, and loved listening to Neil Diamond and singing along with the music and attending Neil's concerts. As a proud parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, he would attend weekly Mass and volunteered his help for fundraisers and did yard work on the church grounds.

Wow, it's 4 years already. I remember riding the ferry with him when he worked at the NYSE. Happy Heavenly Anniversary. You are missed and will always be remembered. I went also to NDHS and graduated in 77.

OMG. I am so sorry about Kevin. I graduated New Dorp in 1977 and we were friends. We dated for a bit and remained friends though the years I was wondering why I havent heard from him. Have many memories that I would love to share.

I am very sorry to hear about Kevin’s passing. He actually was almost my stepfather, as he was engaged to my mom when I was 8 years old in the late 80s, but sadly it was not meant to be. I enjoyed my time with him watching Mets games and going with him to the NY Stock Exchange where he worked at the time. I’m 41 now and married with 2 children of my own and I thought of him often through the years. I am so glad to see that he had such a wonderful life with his wife, stepchildren and granddaughter. My sincere condolences to them for their loss.

I am very sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing. He was almost my stepdad, as he was engaged to my mom when I was 8 years old back in the late 80s but it wasn’t meant to be. I enjoyed the time I spent with him especially watching Mets games! It is not a surprise to hear that he was a loving husband stepfather and grandfather. I’m glad he found happiness with his wife and stepchildren and I am so sorry for their loss.
