Kevin McShane Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2009.
Kevin McShane, 1941-2009, passed away peacefully. Kevin was a Kansas City native born May 4, 1941. He had many accomplishments: he received a bachelor of arts degree in history at the University of Missouri Kansas City in 1962, and in 1969, he taught American history at Longview, Blue Springs, Maple Woods and Moberly junior colleges. The authentic history book he published on Kansas City's Liberty Memorial was placed the Library of Congress in 1970. He cherished the Liberty Memorial and what it stood for. From 1972-1975, he was the lead writer for the Kansas City Missouri Police Department. This study brought 911 and other changes to the KCPD. He also published a children's book entitled "Boo Boo Bunny." For many years he was a freelance writer for the KC Star. Preceding him in death were his parents, Virginia and Charles McShane, along with loving sister Sheila McShane- Maher and Dennis McShane. Kevin's wishes were to be cremated, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

To the family of Kevin McShane. Please accept my condolences on Kevin's passing. I've known Kevin since the mid 80's and considered him an good friend. He was always a scholar and a gentleman. I will miss his phone calls as we both found lots to laugh about.

To the family of Kevin McShane. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of grief and loss.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner with Kevin this past June at Bishop Hogan's class of 1958 fiftieth reunion. Kevin had a brillant mind and amazing recall of past memories from our High school days.

God bless you Kevin. We will miss you.
