I was away when Kevin sadly left us but
My brother knew that I enjoyed listening
to the morning show and it was him that told me about Kevin.I never met Kevin
but every morning on the radio I felt I did.Kevin you were the best.

Kevin is missed by many of us-see plenty comments about Him...
Majic100 is still alive and was created by Him and Bill...
Can we continue and enjoy His creation giving the new team some credit as well as many memory we have
of Him?
Somebody said:
"he stopped broadcasting, I stopped listening"
Christmas music is still on in Majic100 and it is like He did for many years...
He was great and never forgotten...

To Terry and family,

Kevin has been my friend since he was 19 years old and we met at CKSL in London. Overall we worked together at 3 different radio stations, and when we weren't working together we stayed in touch.

Kevin was the funniest person I knew. Ever. His standards for everyone were high. I always felt honoured that I met them (of course I would never let him know that!). We had countless serious discussions, countless laughs, countless antics, countless fights. We were even roommates for awhile!

With Christmas approaching I remembered the time in London when on Christmas day I worked the overnight shift and Kevin came in to work 6am-12noon. I looked into the plastic bag he plopped down on the counter when he came in. Inside was a can of pineapple rings and a can opener. It was so pathetic as a Christmas meal, I couldn't stop laughing. I remember listening to him on my drive home that morning, and feeling so happy.

Everyday since Kevin died I have been thinking about the different memories.

RIP Kev - you were a great broadcaster but an even better friend, I will miss you forever.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Kevin's passing. I sincerely missed hearing his golden voice in the morning, and although I tried to continue to listen to Majic, I had to switch it off. It just wasn't the same without Kevin, Bill and Cody. Kevin always made me laugh, and I really enjoyed all the segments he incorporated into the morning program. The personalized traffic was always good for a giggle.
My sincere condolences to his loved ones and to all his listeners. We have lost someone very special. "For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains". Ottawa was very fortunate to have Kevin in the morning. He touched us all.

Heartfelt condolences to Kevin's family, friends and all who will miss him. I knew Kevin when Majic first launched and I worked in the sales department. He always had a smile to share and a great sense of humor. Godspeed Kevin, from "Tequila" Sheila

December 18, 2011

Kevin and I worked together in London at CKSL in the 1980's.

Our program Director Sandy Davis left and was the driving force behind the creation of Majic100. Sandy brought Kevin in as the morning host and me as the voice of the station.

Kevin is a sweet, caring and genuine guy with that amazing sense of humour! That's how I will remember him.

My condolences to his family and friends in Ottawa.

Kindest regards,

Jeff O'Neil

2011...not a happy ending for Ottawa radio listeners. First James Graham...now Kevin Nelson. Boy, are all those behind unseen portals being entertained now!!

December 17, 2011

Absolutely loved Kevin (even if he was the only kid in school with a mortgage! as he used to say) and listened to him every morning on the way to work.....he was great with jokes, he had a quick wit, he was good with callers- especially young kids, and he worked well with Bill and Cody. Many times i laughed out loud and he always put me in a good mood. I participated in a phone survey a couple of years ago about local radio stations. I made it clear that Kevin, Bill and Cody were the reasons why the Majik 100 morning show was a success. I will miss you Kevin.

I am so sorry that Kevin suffered and passed away much too soon. I also drove in to work with Kevin and Bill, often laughing out loud in the car. Kevin was funny, smart and creative, and so good to all of us listeners. Most of all it was his love of the Beatles which made me a fan. All those Sunday mornings. On my 50th birthday I was walking in the Glebe to go to a special lunch and I spotted him, and I was so excited to stop and talk with him about the Beatles. Thanks, MAJIC, for playing Let It Be for Kevin. My sympathies to his loved ones.

December 16, 2011

I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin several times, usually at media events, and at first he seemed like a tough guy to get to know. But I discovered the "real" Kevin when I had him as a guest of a show I used to do on CFRA called "Middle-Aged Bald Guys". Kevin was the consumate pro, but above and beyond that, he was first and foremost a music freak. His knowledge and love of music was profound, and his passion for radio would have made his dad proud. Kevin was one of the last of a vanishing breed. "If there's a rock and roll heaven, you know they got a hell of a DJ". Kevin could tell you that's a spin on the tune "Rock and Roll Heaven" from the Righteous Brothers. I bet he had an autographed copy too!

Growing up in Kingston and often visiting TO I enjoyed listening to CHUM and Jungle Jim. Then when I moved to Ottawa, Kevin and Bill, Majic 100 was the choice first thing in the morning. It was a great way to wake up and get ready for the day. Kevin, you are missed.

Bill and Kevin will always be part of an Ottawa morning. It is almost unbelievable that one of these voices has now been stilled forever. Wonderful memories will live on every time we switch on our favorite radio station. God Bless Kevin....we miss you terribly.

December 16, 2011

My sincere condolences to Kevin Nelson's family and partner. Kevin would make me laugh out loud every morning and Majic will never be the same without him. He will be sorely missed but his legacy will live on. Sincerely, Marjorie McCorriston

Kevin, you were a wonderful and kind human being who will be greatly greatly missed by all who lovingly knew you or devotedly listened to you, as I did for many years..now you are eternally free, a bright flower in the Garden of Eden. RIP.

December 16, 2011

Kevin had the wonderful ability to make you laugh...so effortlessly and often at his own expense.
One time, I remember I was bemoaning the cost of my son's braces. Kevin's deadpan response was: "Why don't you do what my dad did? Wait til he's forty and make him buy his own."
I will always remember him as someone warm and funny...and, of course, his golden radio voice.

Jacqueline Mustill

Like many others, I didn't know Kevin personally, but he sure touched my life like a friend. He always had a way of making me laugh and I was overcome with tears when I heard that he passed away. I am overcome again as I write this. I will miss your contagious laughter and your bubbling personality. I am glad though that your suffering is over, may you rest in peace.

Kevin what fun we had "back in the days" and every single time we had the wonderful opportunity to bump into each other. There can be no doubt that your sense of humour was sublime (and wonderfully wicked at times), your heart huge, your intelligence impressive and your friendship - priceless. You will be so very, very missed but know what a huge impact you had on so very many lives! I am also certain that you will find John "out there" - what fun you two will have again - makes me smile!

I listened to Kevin as soon as he hit the airwaves in Ottawa back in '91. I loved his show right from the start. I grew up thru University, College and my work life with my radio dial always tuned into his morning show. I loved seeing him do the weather on A Channel as well. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I had always hoped to hear him again one day. Whatever station he returned to, was going to be my station. Majic 100 will never be the same.

Kevin Nelson was a name that everybody knew.
I was a fan of Majic 100 ever since it started. I was one of thousands that would enjoy the morning show with Kevin and Bill.
The two of them had a way of making your day start off...with such fun.
Kevin was such a big part of all our lives...for so many years...and he truly will be missed. Thoughts and prayers go out to his dear family and friends.

Carol Andrews

December 15, 2011

I loved listening to Kevin and Bill in the morning - they woke me up every day. I won tickets to see Chris De Burgh on the morning show once, and when Kevin heard my British accent, the first question he asked was "do you watch Coronation Street?"

As a radio producer I had the pleasure of working with Kevin in Calgary for several years at Music 96 FM in the mid 80's. He was witty and yet so humble at the same time. (I have some old commercials and promo's with his voice and humour on them. If Kevin's family contacts me I'll happily make them available.)

We had some great times together Kevin. I know that wherever you are you're wowing a new audience right now.

My sincere condolences to Kevin's family and friends.

I can remember listening to you as I rocked my baby girl (now 16 years old) trying not to laugh too hard, but never successful.

Our condolences to your family, your friends and co-workers.

Very sorry to hear about my good friend, Kevin's untimely passing. He was an amazing "genuine" person, who I loved to work with closely on various projects, over the past 2 decades. A few year's ago, he invited me to be his "Majic Monday Man-About-Town" every week on his #1 show. We shared the latest "hot gossip" in Ottawa with his listeners on live radio and it was a ton of fun. But now that he's gone, he has sadly taken the "Majic" with him. He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to Lorena, his familyand other close friends.

I will continue to smile each morning as I drive to work and think of all your funny sayings and jokes not to mention personlized traffic, the Old Country and how you loved to finish the song playing on the radio...too funny. Keep them smiling up in heaven. A special mention to Kevin's good friend and colleague Bill Parker. You two were a hoot! Thank you Kevin and Bill for the memorable years!

December 15, 2011

Kevin made me laugh with his corny jokes and imitations of Catherine Chancellor of Y&R. He brought Majic 100 to life and it is and will be hard to fill his shoes in radio land. He had a special way of making a point and was never shy to give his opinion and his opinion always made sense!
To his family and loved ones, cherish his memory and pay it forward - he would want that.
Heaven just got a special resident!

Kevin and I at the Heart Institute Telethon. Kevin you will truly be missed by many. You truly touched my life with laughter every morning for years. Thanks for all the laughs you have given me but mostly thank you for always playing Michael Jackson, The Way You Make Me Feel on my birthday Dec 14 th. Thanks Stu for playing it for me this morning.
My most memorable moment with you was when you ask the listeners what they did when the had a bad day. So I called in and said I listen to Magic 100. You asked why? And I said I just have to listen to how many problems you have and mine are not that bad after all. You laughed and said thanks for that, but your going to have a problem too and hung up on me...you then said to Bill I bet she's having a bad day now lol..lol..lol. I so loved your sense of humor that was definitely funny. When you hosted the Friend of the Heart for me, and every year seeing you at the telethon. Thanks for making me laugh. To his mother sister, Kevin spoke of you often. My deepest condolences.

I grew up listening to Jungle Jay and was delighted when I moved to Ottawa and discovered that the morning show host I was enjoying listening to was none other than his son. I listened faithfully - from the Kevin, Bill, Tracy and Flash days right on up to Kevin's untimely departure from the air. I stopped listening to Majic at that point. I will miss Kevin Nelson more than I can say. I never had the privilege of meeting him, but I woke up with him every morning. Godspeed, Kevin.

I became a Kevin Nelson fan and started listening when I realized he was the son of Jungle Jay. (The Jungle Jay show included slinky glasses, people in gorilla suits and flying cream pies - what else could you ask for!)

Kevin followed in his fathers footsteps; he was incredibly funny without the use of profanity or grossness. Kevin and his Dad are probably cracking everybody up in heaven right now.

Kevin will be missed.

We had a super time with Kevin and his traveling breakfast show in Calgary. He visited my fiancee's home where he broadcast live. I recorded it all on video tape. He was a delight to host and a very likeable person who provided many laughs to our guests. We are very sorry to hear of his passing. Our sincere condolences.

It was a sad day when Kevin and Bill left MAJIC.They kept me laughing every morning. If you were having a bad day to start off with, once you listened to them laughter took over. Kevin and Bill were definitely MAJIC. Kevin you will be greatly missed. RIP
