Kie Kian Ang

He was a great Doctor, kind and compassionate. He was so warm and kind. I am blessed we became friends.

We are saddened by the news of Kie Kian's passing. We pray that you and the children will stay strong. I still remember the last time I met Kie Kian in Jakarta during the visit to the presidential palace (1995). He was a respected colleague and professor and many of his lectures would be missed by the Indonesian medical community.

Dr. Ang will always be our hero. He will always be in our hearts and we will never forget him. Dr Ang to me was not only the greatest doctor, but it was his kindness and thoughtfulness that my wife and I will always remember. As a patient, thank you so much Dr. Ang's family for sharing him with us because we know how hard and how long he worked. We will never forget Dr. Ang calling us at 8 o'clock on a Friday evening to tell us to break open a bottle of champagne that the tests were clear so we would not be worrying all the weekend. Such a tremendous loss to all who knew him. He always had a genuine and warm smile at work. It made me smile to see and talk to him. The world lost an extra kind and good hearted friend.

Our thoughts are with the family at this time, it was a priviledge to work with Kian many years ago at MDA.

Dr. Ang was a wonderful teacher and an inspiration to everyone learning about radiation oncology and cancer research. He always had a smile, and I admire him very much. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. We will all miss him very much.

Many of us vividly remember Kie Kian as an outstanding student in Leuven (Belgium) where he finished Medical School and specialisation in oncology. Industrious and
being a perfectionist whether in study, sport or work, but humble and easy going.
His early passing is a tremendous, lost to society, the medical profession, his friends and, most of all his family.
May Swantje, Angelic, Dimitri, spouses and his extended family would find strength and solace in their deep and rich family bond as well as in the affection and respect of society, academia, patients and friends.

All who knew Kian are just devastated to hear of the sudden passing of such a wonderful person! We loved exchanging friendly stories of family and travel through his regular visits to Houston City Club, where we saw him exercising or sharing a glass of wine with his tennis pals and lovely wife, Sunny. Kian was a leader in relating laboratory research to improvement of clinical radiation oncology and he will be missed in Experimental Radiation Oncology.
