Kim Herman Volk passed away Sunday April 6, 2025, peacefully at home with family by his side at the age of 69 years old.
He is survived by his love Karla & amazing children Kenneth & Kylie - Pride & Joy of his life. Along with siblings: Shirley Lemmex of Colorado, Karl Volk of Nevada, Sue Volk of Nevada, Shelly Thoreson (William) of Minnesota, Kurt Volk of California and Kerry Volk of Hawaii; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents Herman and Magdalena (Jaeger) Volk & brothers, Ken, Keith & Kelly.
Kim was born in Rugby, North Dakota, on August 25, 1955. He graduated from Rugby High School in 1973 before enlisting in the U.S. Army and earning the rank of Sergeant Airborne Ranger, after his military service in Alaska he moved to Colorado and later to Hemet, CA, and living the last 26 years in
Oceanside, CA.
He spent his working career with Hermosa Homes. Upon retirement, he stayed active in what he loved and enjoyed, continuing his involvement in the housing communities he built by serving on HOA boards as president to uphold the integrity of the fruits of his labors.
Bowling was a passion of his, enjoying time with brothers, uncles, and many friends, until he became a father when his focus shifted to family and being the best dad he could be.
He loved to walk the beach, find treasures on the shore, strike up conversation with all he met and make new friends along the way. He was especially a fan of sea turtles.
Kim was an amazing husband, father, brother, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be remembered for being a kind, happy-go-lucky guy with an infectious smile and tremendous sense of humor bringing laughter and light to everyone's life around him and the love he had for his family and friends.
Kim's decision to be an organ donor continues to reflect his kind spirit and his wish to bring others joy, love, and life. We take pride in sharing that he will continue to bless several families with hope and healing.
His time with us, though far too short, was filled with love, laughter, and moments that will forever be cherished. While his passing leaves us missing him dearly, we celebrate the joy he brought to our lives and find peace in knowing his light lives on within us.

Honoring his wishes; Kim has been cremated and will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery. Burial services with Military Honors will be held on a future date determined by his family, followed by a Celebration of Life with stories of affection, joy and laughter.
