Kim and I worked together and shared the February birth month together. I called her "my Queen" she got me through some hard times at the same time she was. She shared stories to make me stronger and know I was going to be OK. We leaned on each other about things. I was scared and she brightened my life so bright, she changed my life. I loved February just to be able to share "our month" . She is the greatest gift to anyone she came across. They didn´t know it until she walked away. As soon as she left a room, it was lit up by this special spirit. It was Kim. Her eyes are magic, her smile was perfect, her soul is the shiniest diamond, and her heart was something else. Ron, I´m sorry for your loss, but thankful you found her. She has forever given you joy and happy memories. She was counting down the days to your retirement, she´s so proud of you. YOU are the love of her life. She will take care of you through these sad times. I know she will. Thinking of you. Kim. Thank you for changing my life just by saying, "hello".

I met Kim for the first time the week before she passed. In the short couple of minutes that we talked she impressed me as having a gentle and caring spirit. I have gotten to know Ron as a neighbor over the past few years and grieve for him in his loss. His love for Kim was always obvious. He has always been proud of her professional accomplishments.

I loved working with Kim in IR and Passavant. She always walked in with a smile and a positive attitude and usually a funny story. She just made the whole room happy when she was there. I learned so much from her compassion and easy going demeanor and how to calm her patients. I admired her skill and ability to relate with anyone and spread joy. I will will always use her "we´re in the 2nd class of wine now". IYKYK. You´ll be forever remembered and missed Kim!

I agree with Dr. Landrenau. She was the best thoracic surgeon I have ever worked with. When I heard that Kim and Ron were moving to Florida and I had a chance to work with her, I was ecstatic. Having a partner like Kim, with her knowledge and expertise, is unheard of in Florida. As soon as she arrived, everyone took notice. I would hear, "Erik, where did you find her?" She was a breath of fresh air. She became my North Star in the hospital. I wouldn't do anything before checking with Kim. I envied her disposition and personality. She was so calm, decisive, and professional, but also warm. Patients and staff absolutely adored her. I don't think I had one patient complication for the entire time we worked together. After she went back to Pittsburgh, I made a silly mistake. As soon as I realized it, I said out loud, "If Kim was here, that wouldn't have happened." Another time, she read a CT scan and suggested an unusual finding. I thought she was crazy. I said no way. We went the OR and, yup, she was correct! Her face lit up when she talked about her family and her dogs. I am devastated and heartbroken. She's gone way too soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to Ron and the rest her family. Kim, Thank you for making me a better surgeon and person. I will never forget you.

I haven't seen Kimberly since we were children but, it's true family stays with you no matter where or what. The last few days my mind and heart been flooded with memories of Kimberly. I remember slide riding with her and my other cousins, carrying on at the bus stop every morning, and holidays at our grandmother's. In all those memories Kimberly's smile is what I see the most. Her smile made you feel welcome, safe, and loved. Kimberly always had a good heart and she loved family. Kimberly you're with other family and Our maker now, that gives me some comfort.

Sorry this took me a few days to sink in and I'm still in disbelief. It's been years since I've seen Kimberly but, family stays with you no matter where or what. Kimberly was aways smiling, warm hearted, and family strong. So many memories with her. So many came flooding back the last few days from slide riding, at our grandmother's, to riding the school bus and carrying on. What stood out in all of them the most was kimberly's smile. That smile just was all and could make you feel welcome, safe, and loved. Kimberly was such a beautiful person and I will greatly miss her. She had an impact wherever she went here on earth. Now she will in heaven.

My sweet beautiful, friend,
I am beyond grateful we crossed paths in life. Thank you for the memories, loyalty, and unconditional support. You truly enriched my life and were the definition of a genuine friendship.
Your soul was the most beautiful! You were so patient and kind. You had the highest pain tolerance I have ever seen and still had a smile on your face. You could light up a room even on your worst day.
I will forever treasure our annual January weekend trips together. I love you and miss you so much.

Spending the nights with her and having fun and getting into trouble .She would eat frozen icing. And how her Brother would pick on us and Kim would take him down. So younger days I thought Kim was tough.Yay, kim!She was a Beautiful and amazing cousin. You will be missed.

An angel, from seeing her in high school at Butler High to seeing her as a colleague at UPMC then having the honor of being her nurse. She always liked to see my eye makeup art and I am sure I was a relentless pain always needing to pick her brain when she was working. God´s blessings for sharing a glimmer of her life with me. Sincerely, Nichol B.

Kim is a most lovely soul!
Best co- surgeon I ever worked with. She was always a guiding source of reason and empathetic caring for our patients. Actually, she rather than me, taught most of our thoracic surgical residents the "ins and outs" of most of our intricate surgical procedures! Kim had the most caring and "soft touch " assertiveness, particularly when things mattered for our patients!!
Kim´s magnetic personality and her beautiful countenance will be missed , and certainly not forgotten,by us all!
