My first concert sitting on top of my Daddy's shoulders June, 1977 at The Houston Astrodome. I was a 7 yr old little girl who sang every word to every song. He'd already been my hero for 2 years by then. Little did I know how much more of a hero he would become. May peace be with his family and loved ones. Love, Amy

Saw him for the first time in the summer of 1971 at the Performing Arts Center in Saratoga, NY. My husband and I actually went to see him opening act -- Ian and Sylvia Tyson. We had never heard of Kristofferson, so his songs hit us like a sledgehammer. Wonderful show. Followed him for the rest of is career. His death is a grievous loss to Americana music, films, and human rights.

Such a talented musician and actor. So great as David in "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore". I have watched that film numerous times. He interacted so well with Alice and Tommy (Ellen Burstyn and Alfred Lutter)

I met Kris Kristofferson for the first time in Auckland. He was performing in Greenlane at the racing field.
I had won tickets in a contest prior to the performance and part of the prize was meeting him afterwards.
My friend and I were delighted to have the pleasure of meeting him and spending time getting to know him.
It was an awesome event for us to have time with him and have the honour of talking to him.
I was extremely sad this year when I heard that Kris had passed away at the age of 88.
He was such a lovely gentleman and is greatly missed.
I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet him and have the pleasure of remembering him and thinking of him.
My close friend who met him with me was really pleased to be able to meet him too.
These are memories that I will never forget.
Rest in peace, Kris.
You will never be forgotten by these girls who saw/heard you sing.
Thank you for coming to `little old New Zealand´ and bringing so much pleasure to those of us who fell in love with you and your music forever.
You will never be forgotten and will always be remembered with love.
Bronni and Arneyne.

I first met Kris on his first visit to Auckland,
New Zealand. His performance was superb and I could have watched him over and over. I could have sat through his performance over and over.
I chatted with him and found him very personable and friendly.
Meeting him was the highlight of my life, and I felt privileged to meet him.
We also kept our friendship going regularly and often wrote to each other.
I was very, very sad when he passed away.
I will never forget Kris....... he was a man in a million and I still feel blessed that I was so lucky to have met him and had the opportunity to meet him and become a friend of his.
Thank you, Kris - for being you and such a gentleman.
I will cherish my memories of you for the rest of my life.
Thank you for the memories - they will be cherished forever.

So much to be said about the earthiest American alpha male of his era but that most famous line of Kristoffersen's most famous song epitomises it all (especially since Kris found his perfect love that lasted). Even if you don't agree about freedom being nothing left to lose, it's always good to go over it again. And that's what made Kris outstanding in music, film and life - the sincere, personal philosophy he lived by came out in the work as code to live by. Also, I really liked Heaven's Gate straight off. Sad to lose Kris' generous presence from the world stage.

I was 4-5 years old, and sent up north i Norway on holiday with familie. From Fauske - Sulitjelma there where an old railway for the mines and through 4 tunnels. The tunnels were raw in the 70s, up until 72 there was only train , so they tok away the arild and made it for cars instead. They were small, dark, dripped large waterdrops from ceilung and it was Barely lightbulbs hanging from the mountain. The radio didnt work, but cassette did. And always the same song came on. It took 30 years untill i recognised it and It was To beat the devil and bobby mcgee, from his first album. Tunnelssong i always called it.

This overwhelming grief is crushing me. I have felt like I´ve known him my whole life. My heart goes out to his family. Please know you are in my prayers

I'd known Kris since we met in June, 1970 at the Cellar Door In Georgetown.
He was Ian & Sylvia´s opening act and not many in the audience knew who he was (becoming). I knew because I had seen him on ABC-TV´s The Johnny Cash Show. The day of the album´s release I hit the record store. (Remember record stores?) I asked a clerk if the store had Kris Kristofferson´s new album.
"Who?"
Well, after some digging, he found it for me, but before making my purchase and heading merrily along my way I couldn´t resist telling the salesman: "Six months from now you won´t be asking `Who?'"
I enjoyed interviewing him and appreciated the time Kris took, as a favor to me, to offer some words of encouragement to Larry, my then-boyfriend who was a would-be songwriter.
I'm proud to also have been one of Kris' early biographers and to have been mentioned in Stephen Miller's 2010 Kristofferson biography.
My condolences to Kris' family, friends, many fans and all who mourn.

In 1976, my husband and I and other family members went to see the Premiere of A Star Is Born, with Kris Kirstofferson and Barbara Striesand. We were so excited to see the Movie! We all loved Kris, his deep voice, and personal, kind demeanor, and we loved the movie! My husband has passed, I am 75, and Kris has always been my favorite Country Western Singer! God bless the Kristofferson family during this difficult time. Just always remember how much he was loved. He will never be forgotten.

Kris Kristofferson was a talentted actor, singer and songwriter. I really enjoyed his music and acting. Have seen Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore with Ellen Burstyn and a excellent cast including Kristofferson playing the kind farmer she meets while working as a waitress in Mel and Ruby's Cafe and begins a relationship with him, he shines as David who is sort of a surrogate father to Alice's son, Tommy, R,I.P, He brought a lot of pleasure to many.
