Marie M. Parker, age 89, of Dubuque, IA, passed away peacefully at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Stonehill Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Marie's life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church, 2917 Central Ave., with Rev. Dwayne J. Thoman officiating. To celebrate Marie's life, family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish scripture service held at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Marie was born on April 12, 1925, in Balltown, IA, daughter of John A. and Cecila (Stoffel) Loch. Marie married Harold J. Parker on July 14, 1948, at St. Francis Church in Balltown, IA. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1989. She was a full time wife, mother and homemaker. Marie was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church and Rosary Society and Finley's 1st Class. She enjoyed playing bingo at the Tri-State Blind Society and the Colts, playing cards and going to Euchre tournaments. Marie also liked crocheting, afghans were her specialty, and doing crossword and word search puzzles. Family was very important to Marie, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Marie is survived by her daughter, Linda (Don Shaw) Boffeli, Dubuque, IA; her grandchildren, Joshua Boffeli, Kate (Jeff) Becker, Vanessa Boffeli; 1 great-grandson, Gus Becker; two sisters, Lucille (Wilbert) Helbing, Platteville, WI, Irene McMahon, Dubuque, IA; sister-in-law, Rita Mae Loch. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; a brother, Matt Loch; 2 brothers-in-law, Wilbert Helbing and Michael McMahon. A Marie M. Parker memorial fund has been established. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Stonehill Care Center for the wonderful care they gave to Marie.
