Betty Stephens

Betty Rose Stephens, 91, of Ankeny, Iowa died July 31, 2020. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). She was born Betty Butcher on October 22, 1928 in Coffey, Missouri to Orange and Kathryn Butcher. She attended North Polk High and married her soldier sweetheart, Max Stephens, in Bethany, Missouri on December 26, 1945. They were married for 65 years until 2010 when he preceded her in death. They raised 3 girls, Kathryn Whitney Wright, Karen Hornberg, and Sandra Timmons. Betty enjoyed camping and traveling south for the winters. She loved to sing and helped put together variety shows. Survivors include grandkids, Scott Hornberg, Ryan Hornberg, and Melissa Whitney Nuzum; Great grandkids Elijah and Mia Nuzum. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elizabeth, husband and her three daughters.
