Kristin Triolo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 18, 2024.
Kristin Deann (Gilleland) Triolo, 55, of Roseville CA passed away on August 27, 2024 from cancer.

Kristin was born in Arcadia, CA on April 18, 1969 to John and Heather Gilleland. She was the oldest sister to her younger brother Ryan. The Family moved from Alhambra. CA to San Jose and the four of them lived for many years in the same family home in Almaden Valley in San Jose, CA. Kristin would attend Hoover Middle School and then Leland High School, graduating in 1987. She went on to study Business at San Jose State University and graduated with the Class of 1992.

Kristin would meet her husband, Michael Triolo, while attending her younger brother Ryan's basketball games at Leland High School. Kristin and Michael went on their first date in January 1991, after a period of time of "set up" by Tracie Frandsen, the wife of the head Coach Dave Frandsen. Michael was the JV Coach. As the Frandsen's suspected, Kristin and Michael hit it off, and quickly fell in love! Michael surprised Kristin by proposing to her within the year, on Dec 31 1991, as the New Years ball dropped, while the two were vacationing at Pine Mountain Lake with friends! They would be married seven short months later on August 1, 1992 in Los Gatos, CA. During their 32 years of marriage, Kristin and Mike had three children: Kylie (born 1997) Mikey (born 1999) and Kendall (born 2002). During their time together, Mike and Kristin would live in the cities of San Jose, CA, Morgan Hill, CA, Hollister, CA, and Carlsbad, CA before eventually settling into their current home in Roseville, CA in June of 2008.

Kristin was very bright and very passionate about her career. She worked at her "Grandfather's bank" for a couple years during and after college, worked as a loan processor, for a computer repair vendor, before settling in with Tandem Computers in June of 1995. Tandem became Compaq, which became Hewlett Packard, and finally Hewlett Packard Enterprises. Kristin worked in a variety of roles, taking on a multitude of responsibilities during her very successful 29 years with the company! Throughout her career whether it was the start at Tandem or into Management or in a Chief of Staff roll, Kristin was loyal, hardworking, and (as I know and has been stated to me) "always did things the right way". The most lasting legacy would be the sense of Family from many people that she worked with. It could have been a business dinner, extra time on a business trip, exchange of Christmas cards, a visit "because we were in the area", a drive from Roseville to the Bay Area to meet new employees, or a lunch with her "crew". It meant so much to Kristin.

Kristin was able to do it all, and to those who knew her, she did it all seemingly with ease. She had the flexibility to work from her home office at times throughout her career so that she could be present for her children and their many appointments and activities. She was a very loving mother, dedicated to doing all she could for her children. She was well known at the schools and in the community for her involvement from crossing-guard/parking guru at the Elementary school to team Mom for soccer and volleyball, to volunteering at different events through work or for the kids. Kristin and her family are also well known for, with their neighborhood Family, hosting the "Hillsford Court Christmas Lights Show" each and every year. Kristin was a wonderful hostess, as she had an open-door policy and entertained at her home with friends and family on so many occasions. Kristin maintained a great work/life balance that was both admirable and fulfilling.

In July of this year Kristin, Mike and their children embarked upon a very special 14 day trip to Amsterdam, Venice, Rome, Florence and Siena. During the adventure, Kristin's health was good and the family could experience so many new and exciting things together, creating very special memories that will be cherished by all!

Kristin was predeceased by her mother Heather Gilleland. She is survived by Michael Triolo, her loving husband of 32 years, her three wonderful children Kylie Triolo (27) Mikey Triolo (25) and Kendall Triolo (21); by her father John Gilleland; brother Ryan Gilleland and his wife Rachael Gilleland, nieces Audrey and Charlotte; her Aunts, Uncles, and many cousins; her brother-in-law Tom Triolo and his wife Lesa Triolo, nephews Brent, Jared and Trey Triolo, sister-in-law Kristina Triolo, sister-in-law Katie O'Brien and her husband Jordan O'Brien, nephews Julian and Ben O'Brien, niece Olivia O'Brien, and in-laws Michael and Karen Triolo.

A special thank you to UC Davis Oncology Center and Rocklin Infusion and to all the doctors, nurses and staff for the many plans of attack against this disease, for their guidance, and empathy in Kristin's battle against cancer-for the last six and a half years! Keeping the disease at bay with many different procedures, surgery, and cutting-edge treatments (along with regular chemotherapy) so that she continued to thrive in the life that she was accustom to living. In her own words, she "found a strength I did not realize was as strong as it is, I realize that you must live every day to the fullest and appreciate what is important". Kristin's community of support rallied around her, professing KTStrong (a thank special you to those VB involved with the KT Strong bracelets!!)!

A celebration for Kristin will be held on November 2. Details to follow via Facebook, etc.

Kristin was the kindest person when we first moved into Sitio Abeto. She came straight over and made us feel most welcomed. It was a joy to be raising our children together and watching them play. There are so many wonderful memories. Truly "only the good die young" because she was 100% the best among us. We are all blessed to have known her.

My favorite memory of Kristen is when our daughters were in volleyball. Her and I would sit for hours talking with each other about everything. She had the biggest heart. My thought and prayers are with the family.

Kristin was a very special person, one of a kind! She could do anything, while making others feel at home. We were sad when they moved from Carlsbad, but the residents of Roseville definitely gained a wonderful family. I remember all of the times we cleaned up after a Sioux wine tasting party. We scrubbed those wine glasses to get the decorations off so they could be used next time. Looking back, we have photos of the kids camping, sleepovers and my favorite photo of Kristin holding Kendall when she was a baby, after she had eaten spaghetti (or wiped it all over her face--not sure which). Kristin will be missed deeply by her family, co-workers and friends. Many prayers being sent to Mike, Kylie, Mikey and Kendall! The song "Jealous of the Angels" by Donna Taggart sums up how much Kristin will be missed. RIP Kristin....

My deepest condolences to the entire Triolo family. Kristin was an amazing leader, mentor and above all friend to everyone that had the opportunity to work with her. She has left a positive impact on my life that will live on forever and I will always strive to be the best I can be, just like Kristin did.

I lived in Dallas and she was in California when she became my manager at HP. I first met her at a meeting in Boston. My first thought when I met her face to face was "oh my goodness, she´s young enough to be my daughter." Reality is, she was...my first child was born in 1967! I worked with Kristen until I retired in 2005. Turned out to be the best working relationship I ever had, and I am so proud of her accomplishments and fight to live.

One of the things I love about Kristin and her family is, no matter how much time passes, when you meet it feels like no time has passed. You pick up where you left off. I have always admired her strength to never stop. No matter what was in her path. It´s with many tears we send love and prayers for you all. Love you Kristin. You are and will always be an amazing woman! love, The Prasad´s
