It all began in 1970, our move-in day at Montreat-Anderson College. Taking the elevator together, I could see that Kristine was unique. Her look intrigued me, no hippy-dippy duds, instead a baby doll style dress. She looked like a doll, petite, round blue eyes, and wavy blond hair.
Kristine and I quickly became friends, engaging in plenty of young adult mischief. Cruising around Black Mountain and Asheville in her funky black Volvo, complete with a black bat dangling from her interior mirror. Kristine introduced me to second hand shops, as well as moonshine.
Kristine was generous, inviting me to her family home where I met Mayrelee and Robert. Mayrelee was always entertaining and good to me. I could see where Kristine got her spark.
Going in different directions following graduation we continued to visit, Kristine to Raleigh, me to Blowing Rock.
Kristine and Mayrelee invited me to Priest Lake in 1974. We attended the Spokane World's Fair, then drove to Seattle where I first met Alice.
Through the years Kristine and I reconnected in Blowing Rock ( where I first met Brian), Stoncrest, and Black Mountain where we last reunited October 2023 for our 50th college reunion.
I'll always remember Kristine's comedic smirk, her little witch laugh, and chimp impression.
If we surround ourselves with intelligent, fun loving people as Kristine was, we are very fortunate.
