Kundan KHERA Obituary

KHERA, Kundan S. BVSc, MSc, DSc Retired Toxicologist, Health Canada Suddenly in Ottawa on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at the age of 81. Dr. Khera obtained his DSc from the Sorbonne in Paris, and completed postdoctoral training at Baylor University in Houston, Texas, before migrating to Canada in 1964. His name appears in American Men and Women in Science, 2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 20th Century, and The Contemporary Who's Who. In 1988, he was honoured by the Society of Toxicology with the Arnold J. Lehmann Award "in recognition of scientific excellence and continuing contributions in the field of toxicology". He was a member of Rideau View and Algonquin golf clubs. He leaves in sorrow his beloved wife, Claire Paulin. Predeceased by his first wife, Rajinder, he is survived by his children, Jagtar (Kathleen), Surinder (Harlehajari Mahal), Balbir (Baldev Dabhia), Jyoti (Sarup Gill), Awtar (Jasminder), Nickky (Iqbal Bajwa), and Roxanne, a brother Surat and sister Darshan (Harpal Randhawa) both in India, and several grandchildren. He recently completed his autobiography, "A life of struggles" (PublishAmerica, Frederick, Maryland, in print). A memorial service will be held at a later date.
