Kurt P. Neumeister

NEW BERN | Kurt P. Neumeister, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Born in Long Beach, CA, Kurt was raised in Westchester County, NY where he worked as a banker for many years. Upon retirement, Kurt and his wife, Ellie, moved to New Bern in 1998. While in New Bern, Kurt was a very active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, including the Senior Pharmacy Program. He was a long-time supporter of the New Bern Police Dept., their Citizens Police Academy and was president of their volunteers. Kurt and Ellie were also volunteers for many years with the local soup kitchen and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. When he wasn't volunteering, Kurt always enjoyed canvas painting and loved to take cruises and travel. Kurt was preceded in death by his twin brother Bert as well as his parents, Charlie and Bea.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Pollock~Best Funeral Home from 6-7:30 PM, followed by a recitation of the Rosary. A memorial mass will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 28, 2016 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Tully as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Kurt is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor "Ellie" Neumeister; their children, William Neumeister, and wife Laura, of Orlando, FL; Diane Neumeister and Walt Frede, of Lake Helen, FL?; Nancy Neumeister of Newtown, CT; and Kurt Neumeister, Jr. of Hopewell, VA; and a granddaughter, Ashley Neumeister.
