Kurt Reuss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 31, 2021.
Kurt Martin Reuss, 61, of Wonder Lake, Illinois passed away on January 31st, 2021. Kurt was born in Chicago on March 8th, 1959, to parents Martin and Katherine Reuss. He graduated from Gordon Tech High School, and went on to study HVAC at a trade school in Chicago. On October 14th, 1989, he married the love of his life, Suzanne Petrakovits, with whom he had three sons. He spent a lifetime working in maintenance, able to fix nearly anything that could go wrong in a building. Yet, his ability as a repairman was not limited to the mechanical; he was known as a peacemaker and a referee in a family of often fiery personalities. Kurt was a witty and quotable man, whose many sayings—"What, am I paying to heat the outside?"—will live on through his children. He is the subject of numerous stories, many of which are too inappropriate to be told in this obituary. These stories come from a lifetime of adventures, made while driving his motorcycle, fishing on his boat, or camping with his family. Kurt was an easily likable man and will be missed by all who had the honor of meeting him. Kurt is survived by his wife, Sue; his sons, Eric, Josh, and Luke; his sister, Barb; and an expected grandchild whom he never got to meet. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a model father, and an admirable man. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4th, 2021, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr. McHenry IL. Due to current CDC Covid 19 recommendations and Illinois mandates, only 50 people will be allowed within the funeral home facilities at a single time, all attendees must wear a face mask at all times and practice social distancing protocol. We welcome everyone who would like to attend but ask that you make your visit brief in order to allow for everyone in attendance to be able to have an opportunity to show their support for the family.

We are so sorry for your loss; and we'll all miss him. In the few years that we have known Kurt, we noticed that he always had a smile on his face. We enjoyed the times we spent with you both, working on wedding and shower plans, working on the kids house, or just having some fun conversations and a beer. Our prayers and sympathy go out to the whole Reuss family, and friends alike.
Love Jay and Barb Nalley

There's so many words that can be used to describe this wonderful man, too many to list in fact. He was a great mentor, both professionally and personally, to my husband and he made a large impact in our lives. As well as many others. Shared many laughs and great stories with this beautiful mustached man. Though he's gone he certainly won't ever be forgotten. Wishing the Reuss Family peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart. Kurt, you are loved and will be missed dearly.
