Kyle Gallagher, aged 40, passed away on June 26, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on June 25, 1984, in Pensacola, Florida, Kyle grew into a smart, opinionated, and traditional individual, known for his loving and caring nature as well as his intellectual pursuits.

Kyle attended Ransom Middle School and J.M. High School, and he continued his education at the University of West Florida (UWF), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in Education. Professionally, Kyle dedicated himself to the field of education, most recently serving as the Assistant Dean at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. His career also included significant roles at UWF, Southeastern Louisiana University, and Southern Arkansas University, where he was highly regarded for his contributions to academia.

Kyle was passionate about reading, history, and meteorology. He enjoyed spending time with friends, playing card games, debating various topics, and was also an avid whiskey connoisseur and fisherman. These hobbies reflected his diverse interests and his ability to engage and connect with people on multiple levels.

Kyle is survived by his mother, Nancy Gallagher; father, Terry Gallagher; brother, Reed Gallagher and sister-in-law Tina Gallagher; nephews, Duncan and Beau Gallagher; grandmother, Eleanor Joyner; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Herbert Joyner, and uncle, Scott Joyner.

I have sweet memories of Kyle, Reed, and my daughter, Caroline playing outdoors at the Gallagher home. Nancy really helped me out by picking up Caroline along with the boys from Pine Meadow Elementary School many afternoons.
Kyle always did well in school. At the time, I didn't recognize his musical talents. Kyle certainly had a fine presence as Drum Major at Tate HS. We attended all the football games and I can see him now directing and marching about the field.
Terry worked with my late husband, Charlie Mc for a number of years. Our connection to the family wasn't only school, church and community.
My heart breaks for your loss. May God grant you strength and comfort.
We LOVE YOU!

Kyle and I were on the yearbook team the first half of our eighth grade year at Ransom. We had so much fun walking around the school taking pictures of random students doing random things. On page 47 of that yearbook, is a page called "The lollipop kids" and I don't know, for the life of me, WHY he chose to name it that, but I went with it because that page we made together. During the second half of that year, we wrote for the school newspaper. And again, walking around the school interviewing random students about random things that we had thought of an article idea for. And yes, they were usually our friends!

Kyle and I were also in band together and I remember when he decided to try out for drum major. He was so excited when he was chosen and I remember hanging out with him while he would practice in the band room.

Kyle was always smiling! He was always such a positive person in my life during those years. He absolutely made an impact on my young teenage life as even though we didn't keep in touch he still wanted the first people I think about when I think of those years.

My thoughts and prayers are with Kyle's family and friends and students. He's another bright light that's gone too soon but I know that he is one of God's angels now, and will always be looking after his family and friends.

I will always remember Kyle as the goofy boy in middle school that was always cutting up and making everyone laugh. I haven't seen him since I moved away between freshman and sophomore years, but it seems that he's had a great life for a Pensacola kid, but 40 is still much too young. Condolences to his family and friends

I worked closely with Kyle in my time at Sewanee as a student. I must say he will be deeply missed and his legacy will live through the culture he helped create at Sewanee. He will be missed and remembered as one of the greatest.

I´ve known Kyle most of his life as a child a young man, the eternal student a teacher and a doctor. He was someone´s whole world, someone´s best-friend, grandson , nephew , uncle a brother and a son. But most of all he was a mama`s boy you´ll see him again Nancy . The Gallagher,s are in my thoughts and prayers. My deepest sympathy he will be missed.
