LIEBOLD
KYLE SIMON
Age 25, of Slidell, LA, formerly of Jefferson Hills, PA, passed accidentally on the morning of Saturday, February 20, 2016, while on his job with Norfolk Southern Railroad. Beloved son of Daniel and Ruth Liebold; loving brother of Natalie and Erin Liebold; grandson of the late Eugene and Hattie Liebold and Simon and LaVerna Kimutis. Family was important to Kyle and therefore he will be treasured by relatives in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, as well as Pennsylvania. Kyle will be remembered by friends in the Pittsburgh area, Erie and New Orleans, LA. Kyle was a 2008 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School where he participated as a trombone player in the band. He attended Pennsylvania State University Behrend Campus in Erie and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Business with Engineering. Kyle worked summers at Steel Center AVTS and Duquesne University. An avid lover of trains, he landed his dream job with Norfolk Southern Railroad starting at the Conway Yard outside of Pittsburgh. From there he transferred to the Lake Erie District, then to Memphis, TN, and finally New Orleans, LA. While attending PSBehrend, he became a volunteer in the Brookside Fire Company and the Perry Hi-Way Hose Company. Upon receiving his EMT certification he was employed by the Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Association and remained involved whenever he was in Pittsburgh. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and kayaking. Visitation will be held Sunday 1-9 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. Funeral Services will be held Monday 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Park. Family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Brookside Fire Company of Erie, www.eriepafire.com, or Jefferson Hills Area Ambulance Association, www.jhems.com.

Mr. And Mrs. Liebold,
My thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family! I work with NS in the Alabama Division office. Kyle was such a professional and well liked young man. He and my oldest son were exactly the same age! I am proud to say I was one of his coworkers! Prayers will be abundant in my home!

Dan and Ruth -- It has been awhile since I have been to Western PA to visit friends from high school, and I never had the opportunity to meet Kyle, but I am so very sorry for your loss. My wife (Nancy) and my two sons, wish to extend our sympathy and prayers to your entire family.

March 2, 2016

Dear Ruth,
It struck me while glancing through the obituaries this morning that this was the son with whom you were pregnant when I left Steel Center as the Math facilitator in 1990. Although I have not seen you again in all these years, I remember how excited and anticipatory you were for the birth of your first child.
My heart bleeds for your loss.
You are in my prayers.
May God find some way to comfort you and your family.

I new Kyle for a short time. He was a very kind young man. Kyle will be missed by his family and friends but also by his 'railroad family'. Kyle was very engaged, thoughtful, and had non-stop energy. We met while going thru training for our positions within the organization. Kyle was doing what he believed was his dream. To the family, no words can express the loss of a child. the words 'tis not to question why' ring hollow at this time. Just know Kyle will meet all of us in time and ask us 'what took you so long'.

Though I had known Kyle for a short time, he was a kind and thoughtful young man. He will be missed not only by his family and friends but also by his 'railroad' family. I had the great pleasure to meet Kyle in Norfolk during our training for the positions we hold within the organization. Kyle was always cheerful, eager, and non-stop energy. To the family, my deepest condolences, for the loss of a child is the hardest to accept. I was told 'tis not to question why', but it rings hollow at this time.
