A service at St John's
Church, Mansfield, preceded
burial in the town's cemetery
of Mr Leonard Douglas
Wyatt (80), of Rhodes
Walk, Mansfield.
Born at New Houghton
and educated at St John's
and St Peter's schools, Mansfield,
Mr Wyatt, who was also
a member of both church
choirs and the Sea Cadets
had lived locally all his life.
He left school at the age of
14 to work on the Co-op milk
round before doing a bricklaying
apprenticeship. He then served with the Royal
Navy between the age of 16-21 leaving due to ill health.
After this he had various jobs before finishing from
British Road Service (BRS) in 1976.
His interests included music and films and he was an
avid collector of lighters, keyrings, DVD's and videos
especially Clint Eastwood films. He was a founder member
of Mansfield Royal Naval Association andamember
of Clipstone and Welbeck Bowls Club.
Mr Wyatt, who died at King's Mill Hospital, Sutton,
leaves his wife, Mrs Sylvia Wyatt, three sons, Paul, Garry
and Andrew, two daughters, Carol and Maria, nine
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and another
great-grandchild due in the next few weeks.
Mourners were Mrs S. Wyatt, Mr and Mrs G. L. Wyatt,
Mr P. Wyatt, Mr A. Wyatt, Mr and Mrs G. Pearson,
Mr S. Pearson and Nina Staples, Mr S. Pearson, Miss G.
Wyatt; Miss C. Pearson and S. Miles (representing Mr D.
Wyatt), Miss H. Wyatt and Carl Wallace; Lyn Tasdamir
(representing Mary White), Mr M. Sowter, Mr J. Sowter,
Mr and Mrs D. Sowter, Mrs M. Storrs; Mr A. Storrs
(representing M. Storrs), Mr and Mrs D. Wyatt, Mr and
Mrs M. Wyatt, Mr and Mrs S. I. Breffitt, Mr and Mrs R.
Hackett; Mr D. Hackett (representing Mr A. Hackett);
Mr and Mrs K. Roberts (representing Mr and Mrs E.
Wyatt); Mr D. Carling (representing R. McClean), Mr M.
Smith, Mr and Mrs D. Sylvester, Mr and Mrs D. Vann,
Miss E. Moore, Mr R. Hollingsworth; Mr P. Brown (representing
Mrs J. Brown), Mr C. Pearson.
Floral tributes and donations to Mansfield Sea Cadets
were received from family and friends.
The service was conducted by Mrs V. Pearce and arrangements
were by Ivan Bramley.
