Lana Breuning Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 22, 2025.
Lana Arelene Breuning (née Clements), age 66, passed away on May 12, 2025, in Camarillo, California. Born on April 3, 1959, in Oxnard, California, Lana lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and resilience.

A graduate of Santa Clara High School, Lana later returned to school to pursue her passion for helping others. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Child Development from California State University Northridge and dedicated herself to teaching children with special needs. Her work in special education reflected her deep empathy and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who needed it most.

Lana was a devoted mother to her son Stephen Breuning and daughter Nicole Breuning. She found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Esther and Jasiah Goetz. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family-she was a beloved daughter to Rachel Howell and shared close bonds with her sisters Mary Howell, Raquel Wolosewicz, Rebecca Ryan, and Jessica Barroso. She also cherished her nieces and nephews, Aunts and Uncles and many cousins who were part of her extended circle of love. Lana was preceded in death by her father John Clements, brother Johnny Clements, and sister Patricia Howell-Avila.

Her faith played an important role throughout her life. Lana attended Channel Islands Vineyard Christian Fellowship where she raised her family in a community of worship. In April 2025, she chose to be re-baptized-a deeply personal act that symbolized renewal and spiritual rebirth.

Lana had a vibrant love for life's simple pleasures. She delighted in going to the beach, attending festivals and concerts, and exploring fairs. A creative soul at heart, she collected seashells and transformed them into beautiful handmade decorations. Her garden was a living testament to her care and attention-filled with colorful flowers, succulents, and thriving plants that reflected the beauty she cultivated around her.

Animals held a special place in Lana's heart. She especially adored cats and often took it upon herself to care for creatures in need-nursing them back to health with patience and love.

Traveling brought Lana great joy; she embraced the opportunity to experience different cultures and connect with people from all walks of life. Generous by nature, she found fulfillment in giving-especially to those less fortunate-and lived each day guided by kindness and empathy.

Lana Arelene Breuning will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, caring daughter and sister, faithful friend, and compassionate teacher. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire acts of kindness in the world she leaves behind. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Family's House 1102 Corsicana Dr. Services begin at 12, reception to follow.
