Larry Addison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 25, 2013.
Larry Randall "Randy" Addison Larry Randall "Randy" Addison, beloved son of Ken and Gerri Addison, of Abingdon, Va., departed this life to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va. Born on November 10, 1959, Randy resided in Lebanon, Va., throughout his childhood and young adult life before moving to Abingdon, Va. He was a 1978 graduate of Lebanon High School, and a 1982 graduate of East Tennessee State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. After graduation, he was employed by Soil and Materials Engineering in Blountville, Tenn., before founding Addison Surveyors with his father in Abingdon, Va., where he worked for the last 30 years as a professional, licensed land surveyor. Randy loved fishing, hunting and being in the outdoors. Some of his most cherished memories include hunting and fishing with his late maternal grandfather, Kyle Price, and his lifelong friend, Billy Cross. He had many friends with whom he enjoyed reminiscing and laughing about the many hunting and fishing ventures on Bear Town Mountain and Tumbling Creek. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, friends, and surveying colleagues. May he rest in peace until we see him again in the new morning where we will know no more tears, pain, or sorrow and no more separation from loved ones. Randy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harless and Cora Addison; and his maternal grandparents, Kyle and Mildred Price; maternal uncles, Kyle Price Jr. and James Price. Survivors include his former wife and the mother of his children, Nancy Meade Addison, Bristol, Va.; two children, Ashley Rachel Addison Earls and husband, Nathan, Corbin, Ky., and John Kenneth Addison, Abingdon, Va.; sister, Kendra Addison Honaker and husband, Robert, Abingdon Va.; niece and nephew, Kori and Kalvin Honaker, Abingdon, Va.; paternal uncle, J.W. Addison and wife, Perry; five paternal cousins who were like brothers and sisters, Ronnie Addison and wife, Debbie, Charlotte (Addison) Cross and husband, Billy, Randy's fishing buddy, Alan Addison and wife, Lori, Renee (Addison) Mort and husband, John, Marty Addison and wife, Holly; maternal aunts, Shelby Alexander, and Phyllis Dotson; uncles, Bobby Price and wife, Ilene, and Ralph Price; maternal cousins, Mike Price, Karen Guy, Vicky McGregor and husband, Mike, Dennis Price and wife, Krista, Chris Price, Jill Horne and husband, Don, Teresa Casey and husband, Jeff, Lisa Bailey and husband, J.L.; devoted co-worker and friend, Robin Pennington; and a very special loved one, Christine Powers and their little dog, Ollie. Pallbearers include Ronnie Addison, Alan Addison, Marty Addison, Billy Cross, Robert Honaker, and Greg McGlothlin. Honorary pallbearers include Dennis Price, Randy Atkins, Danny Mort, John Mort, Brett Watson, Adam Hamilton, and Derek Johnson. Randy will be in the care of Combs Funeral Home at 291 Fincastle Road, Lebanon, Va. The family will receive friends Friday, October 25, 2013, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted immediately following visitation with the Rev. Jerry Eggers, Travis Cross and the Rev. Darrell Harmon officiating. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Russell Memorial Cemetery, 1010 East Main St, Lebanon, Va.
