Larry Altman, Sr. Obituary
Larry Donnell Altman, Sr., 71, of Avon Park, FL changed his address to his eternal, Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Adventhealth Hospital in Sebring, FL after a brief illness. Born in Dillon County, SC growing up in Bennettsville, SC Larry moved to Avon Park, FL in 1973. He started working for Chancey’s Radiators in Avon Park and Wauchula until 2017. He also had his own shop at Macs Auto Salvage. Most friends and family knew him as Donnell. He leaves behind many friends and family. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his Mother – Christine Altman Driggers, Brother – Louis “Ricky” Altman and Granddaughter – Amber Kalyn Goins. Survivors include his Wife of 48 years Janice Hodge Altman of the home, Daughters – Donna Carol Byrd (Charles) of Wallace, SC; Sarah Elaine Kennedy (Scott) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Sons – Larry Donnell Altman, Jr. (Marjorie) of Sebring, FL; Michael Allen Altman (Erica) of Venus, FL; Brothers – Robert Altman (Patricia) of Bennetsville, SC; Sisters – Mary Ann Sweatt (Mike) of Columbia, SC; Kathy McLean of Athens, TN; Debbie Carol of Augusta, GA; 14 Grandchildren; six Great-Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

It will not be the same when I visit Florida. You have been a great Uncle to me and I will always cherish those memories. You will be missed very much but I know you are no longer hurting and you are in a better place. I miss and love you Uncle. Give pa, dad, Cameron and uncle Pete a hug for me. Until we meet again. Love you always.

It’s never going to be the same with you not here you have been in my life since I was a little girl you were more than a Brother in law you were a mentor and the friend when needed, always father figure when my daddy passed. I will always cherish the memories and watch over Jan just as I Promised you. You fought me ran the race me you won the fight. You are now in Heaven and this is not goodbye but see you soon. Donnell losing you is like losing my dad again, you are my brother in law but you have always been there for me since I was a small kid.
