The first time I met Larry, he was quietly sitting among a group of social work students at the Westward Ho. He was polite and kind. Since then, I have come to learn that he was so much more than just a polite and kind person. He was creative, witty, thoughtful, fun, and full of dry humor. He loved playing Trivial Pursuit and proved to be quite a master at it. He was extremely helpful to the students as well. I do not remember him saying no to any of the activities the students came up with. His enthusiasm to participate played a big part in building the confidence of students in their skills and capabilities. The time he spent with students and I have tremendously impacted and influenced our learning and outlook on the work we do. Larry, thank you for patiently giving us your time and providing us an opportunity to get to know you. You are so missed dearest Larry.

This expression of gratitude is for Larry's sister, Joyce Anderson. Joyce has been a faithful sister to Larry all the years of his life. I only wish I had a sister like Joyce. Joyce carried a burden for her brother. You can say that Joyce was Larry's cheerleader! I am honored to call Joyce friend. What Joyce has done not only Larry but for countless others is be an example of Christ's love. I can only hope to be more like Joyce. Joyce, you get the sister of life award! Thank you for all that you have done for Larry. Your parents would be so grateful and proud of you. Love you dear friend and neighbor. Love YOU!

Larry was an incredibly caring person and always so engaged in my community building work at Westward Ho through ASUI considered him a key creative collaborator. He made all the event flyers, which we posted on the residents' doors. I also looked forward to receiving his holiday emails with fun clip art. I will always value our friendship and his unconditional support for the many initiatives we co-produced over the past seven years. Larry's positive spirit was one of the brightest lights for my students and mewe will never forget him!

Over the years we were able to visit a little with Larry. I remember when he got his apartment down the street he was excited. He even got a new car! Both Larry and Joyce came over so he could give us his Christmas card and tell us about his new apartment. Larry was a man of few words, and had a humbleness about him. What brings me joy is over the years I have been able to pray with Larry. The last time I saw Larry he was in the hospital and he looked peaceful. Psalm 23 Love, Leslie and Brian

While vacationing one summer, Larry stayed at our house and took care of our pets. He created a DVD displaying our dogs exploits while we were away. Our kids thought that was great! Larry was kind and caring and we will never forget him. May he rest in peace.

As a member of the Westward Ho community, over the years Larry gave a lot of his time working quietly in the background -- always getting things done in his own unassuming way. Were there a picture in the dictionary next to the word "gentleman", it would most certainly be one of Larry.

I had the opportunity to meet Larry several years ago. He was quiet, but friendly and polite. When he spoke, it was evident that he was well educated, so it was no surprise to find out he had earned a PhD. Since the time I met Larry, he endured some life challenges, which included some health difficulties. He was a private person, and did his best to face his challenges as independently as he could, but did need the advocacy and assistance at times from his sister, Joyce. To Joyce and to Larry's other family members and friends, I extend sincere condolences for your loss. May God comfort you with fond memories of Larry as you navigate this difficult time.
Respectfully,

I did not know Larry, but knew of him through his sister, Joyce. He was loved and respected, and cared for so deeply. May he rest in peace, and may the stars that hold his memory shine on Joyce and all who loved him.

Larry was such a sweet and kind man. A good friend to the Barnard family. I really looked forward to his Christmas cards each year--all the news and pictures. He was the first one to send us a card every year. When we didn't get one the beginning of December this year, I knew something was wrong. I know He is in Heaven with all the other angels. We will miss him.

There is nothing easy about any of this, but those of us who knew Larry know that his health was a terrific challenge the last few years. It's time now to remember the better days, and know that he is at peace. Joyce has been a wonderful sister to Larry and caregiver throughout their lives.

Though life is short and we lose loved ones quickly, God's promise to empty the grave in the near future is found at Hosea 13:14. May our loving, kind, merciful God wrap his loving arms of comfort
around you especially during your time of bereavement.

Joyce,
Know that our thoughts and love are with you through the loss of your brother. You have been a paragon of strength and a touchstone for Larry through all the difficulties he has faced. You sacrificed for your brother and gave him the strength that he didn't always have. Take solace in the knowledge that you went "above and beyond the call of duty" to give Larry the best life possible. I hope that you find strength and comfort in the days ahead.
Love,
Linda and Wally
