I am greatly saddened to learn of the passing of my dear friend. Larry, a gentle soul, was one in a million, and he will be greatly missed. If it weren't for Larry, I would not have had such an interesting dissertation topic. Rest in peace, Larry.

Our family knew Larry as a high school student and later he taught and coached my son, a 7th grader at Fleming, in pole vaulting. When I then spoke with Larry, he was the same as the boy in high school. He was a fine man, very grounded with excellent reasoning to mentor young people. His death is a great loss to all and we are grateful to have known him. Carolyn Muddiman Patterson, Patricia Muddiman Callaham, and Bonnie Muddiman Johnson

When I was a student at Roanoke College Larry gave me a ride many days from the college to my home. He would see me waiting for the bus and give me a lift. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I actually had his brother, Charles, for high school English. What I learned in his classes has helped me my entire life. May they both rest in peace - Sue Ellen Slater Berry - Wm. Fleming Class of '64

Mr A was an incredible teacher. I had him in 7th grade at Breckinridge in Roanoke, VA. He is one of the reasons I still love Math. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Coach Arrington was someone I always looked forward to stopping by the office at Roanoke. He was such a joy to be around and so fun to talk to about everything from the history of track & field/XC to his amazing photography adventures. A wonderful person, friend, and coach.

I am sad to hear of the death of Larry. We grew up in Oakland Baptist Church together and were in the class of '59 at William Fleming High School. He was a gentle giant, a real leader. Earth's loss is heaven's gain. Rest in peace, dear friend.
