Larry Coomer

Larry Arthur Travis Coomer, 67, Nancy, departed this life on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.He was born on March 28, 1941, in Burnetta, Ky., the son of the late Arthur Columbus and Virginia Lee Pierce Coomer. He was a heavy equipment operator for Don Molden Multiple Services for 42 years and a member of the Burnetta Baptist Church in Nancy, Ky. Larry loved his family and grand-children and was so proud of his grandchildren. He was an avid fisher-man, enjoyed garden-ing and loved going to the mountains in North Carolina.Mr. Coomer is survived by his wife, Clara Carnes Coomer, whom he married on Jan. 12, 1961, in Jamestown, Ky.; two sons, Travis (and Jody) Coomer, Danville, Ky., and Brad (and Jeanette) Coomer, Stanford, Ky.; a daughter, Monika (and Ricky) Wiles, Somerset; a brother, Terry Coomer, Nancy, Ky.; four sisters, Elizabeth Ann Sears, Nancy, Ky., Kathy Campbell, Somerset, Carol Bogle, Somerset and Wanda Pruitt, Texas; nine grandchildren, Beth, Tiffany, Casey, Emma, Ben Coomer, Olivia Coomer, Jessica Reed, Sarah Wiles and Tyler Wade; and a great grandchild, Gabby Wells.Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur and Virginia Coomer; and a grandchild, Alyssa Coomer.Visitation for Mr. Coomer will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.A funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Vola Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Pierce Family Cemetery in Nancy, Ky.
